I think it is most interesting to note that here there is clearly a call for the list to be added to. We do not have a way to show the post before subsequent edits, but from the comments it is in fact obvious that not all fables were public knowledge for residents. I point out, for example, that 202 volunteered his existence as Doctor Watson, and proceeded to say 207 is the Baba Yaga. 703 was reported as the Wicked Witch, who was clearly not on the original list prior to the comments made. Likewise, 307 was cleared as Van Helsing, Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes were revealed. 1202 is self-proclaimed, but reveals D1 as Hook. Thus we can conclude that not all individuals had revealed themselves and did not wish to be revealed.
Regardless, therefore, of how you paint it, this post crossed a very significant line of personal privacy. Had people been willing to volunteer this information, the backlash might not have been so strong. 207, for example, seems quite at ease with her power and more than willing to share it, if her forum posts are any indication.
I think as well it is important to realize people may have been lying. What better way to hurt someone than to say "703 is the Wicked Witch" when perhaps she is not? Now no matter what 703 would like to say in response to this, everyone will proceed to doubt her. It does not matter how vociferous she is in her defense, she will be labeled the Wicked Witch for the duration of her time here, unless another Witch is discovered. Perhaps the Wicked Witch is not here at all.
