Arriving freakishly early probably wasn't in Regulus's best interests. Why? Because it meant he had to wait for his brother to arrive, and that period of time it took the clock to shift the next fifteen minutes on its face was like hell. Regulus had stuffed himself as far into the corner as he could possibly go in the Creamery, his back facing the wall so he could look over the crowd and perk up each time someone entered into the shop, only to be severely disappointed and that much more anxious when the face wasn't that of his brother's. Internally he worried if Sirius wouldn't come at all. He half hoped he wouldn't though, because then he would have more excuses to hate him, but the desperate side of his brain begged him to show up.
He'd be disappointed forever if Sirius had lied and found better things to do. Disappointed.. but maybe not surprised.
Anxiously, Regulus fiddled with his hands, picking around his manicured nails in habit, pulling at the skin even though there wasn't anything to fuss over. He made himself bleed minutely, hissed and stuffed his finger into his mouth just long enough to realize what he was doing. Pulling his finger away, the boy sat straighter and tried to look as important as possible, which was hard since he felt like a worried mouse. But, he was a Black, after all. He had to look presentable... right?
