"I've defied all my healers' expectations so far," Adele said, smile widening a little. He said it was a concern, but he had been aware of it before now, so it didn't seem to be something that worried him immensely. She did want to reassure him, though. "I've every intention of continuing to do so."
She considered his next words very carefully. Having a child was not a problem; that was definitely something she wanted to experience. She didn't expect it to be easy, but her healers had said there was no reason to think she couldn't manage it. That didn't seem to be what he was most concerned with, though.
"Understandable," she said. "I really have very little affinity for any sort of affair, regardless of the man's age - except for the sort that we're discussing, of course. I have no intention of betraying you or your legacy in any way."
If no one had managed to woo her in all the years she'd been single, there was not a single chance that anyone would manage it when she had real, solid reasons not to be tempted - not that her health wasn't a good enough reason in itself, from her perspective. "I've given this a great deal of thought, and I don't see why I should have any difficulties with it. My only real concern is that I might die before giving you an heir, or die without seeing the child grow to be an adult, and I understand if that's not a risk you're willing to take."
