Lily had never been to such an event before. She usually went to more low key activities but she had to admit that the energy at the match had been infectious. Of course, it could have just been James' enthusiasm that had been contagious, but whatever it had been, she'd found herself cheering and booing along with the Arrows' crowd. She didn't know the first thing about Quidditch, but she didn't really need to know all of the rules to realize when things were going well and when they really weren't.
Now, at the restaurant, Lily was still grinning as she listened to James rambling on about the Quidditch match. It was nice to see him so naturally passionate about something. She was starting to think that his quirk with the Snitch--the way he played with it on the grounds of the castle--wasn't so much a move to show off at every single second, but an extension of his love for the game. Well, maybe it was still a bit of him showing off, but she was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here. She wondered how much else she had interpreted incorrectly about him, how many things she had misunderstood. Maybe she hadn't misunderstood him at all, but she found she was wanting to believe that there was more to him than that anyway because she really was finding that she liked him. A lot.
With her food in front of her, she took a bite right as James asked her a question. As such, it took a moment to chew and swallow before she could answer. "I had no idea what was going on," she finally said, grinning, "but it was brilliant! I can see why you enjoy it so much. And it was fun, you know, seeing you get so excited about the game."
