This wasn't unusual for them, at all. For Sirius to be the one ready to impulsively run away with a new idea and see it through to the end, for Remus to be the one balking and taking the exact opposite stance. It was generally left to James to take all opinions into account and weave them into a cohesive plan, which he very much enjoyed doing.
And sometimes Peter had a really excellent point to contribute too. James thought that was probably the most important thing that had been pointed out all night.
"We're old enough," he said. That was the end of that argument, as far as he was concerned. He also wasn't going to argue about whether Hogwarts was really threatened - You-Know-Who was out there and now Dumbledore wasn't, so how was that even a question? "But I agree, we should make sure of who we're dealing with beforehand. If we go full-on ninja attack on a couple of people and they're not Death Eaters, that doesn't make us much better than them." He nodded to himself. "So, first, we need to do some research. Confirm whether the Carrows are Death Eaters, and any of our other suspects, too. Then we need a good plan to ambush them without our identities being discovered until we can reveal them to any Order members who notice us. That'll depend mostly on who we're going after."
He did not entirely approve of drinks being combined with planning, even though it had served them well where certain pranks were concerned. Actually, he just wasn't an enormous fan of liquor in general, but he indulged when his friends were into it. They usually ended up drunker than him, which was always entertaining to watch.
"But I think talking is really all we can do about that tonight, yeah?" he finished. So he'd take a drink, if that was what they were doing.
