The smile Remus gave him was very reassuring. James thanked Merlin that it looked real, and genuine, even if Remus still seemed a bit awkward. Ignoring it did seem like the best plan, and if it worked, it was probably going to be a large part of James's strategy for dealing with this, in general.
It took him slightly off guard, the way Sirius jumped into a conversation in the middle; that was his own mind being preoccupied, though, not Sirius's fault. He was overthinking, again. Ignoring his own mind, he flopped down into a chair, tapping his foot absentmindedly to the music.
"Definitely possible," he agreed. And, might as well get this out of the way, "I move we don't provoke anyone in writing if we can avoid it. Lessens the element of surprise if they know who they're dealing with."
At least at first. In the end he was sure they'd earn a reputation among the Death Eaters, and James relished that idea. He planned on raising hell. But there was no need to give up the element of surprise while they still had it.
