Remus didn't expect anyone to cut him slack, but he was now really trying to deal with it all. Before, he hadn't realized the full situation, which wasn't really his fault, but Sirius was making sense of it all. Mostly. Before, Remus wasn't ready to to take whatever he had coming but if that's what it took to make things better - and yes, of course he wanted to make them better - he could do that.
"Fine," he said, a little harshly, though he didn't mean it like that and he took a few steps forward, hands gesticulating. "I'm here. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I said those things and that I left because I was scared." He spoke fast, emphasizing words as the emotions continued to flood like something that was just so Remus. Maybe it made him weak, or a pushover, or whatever else he or others could think of, but that was all he knew how to be.
"I care and I don't want to lose my best friend." His eyes were almost pleading for a few seconds before he dropped his gaze, taking another deep breath.
