"I was - am," he corrected himself with a nod. At least that was accepted as an apology since Remus wasn't at all good at them for major things. If it was something little that hadn't exploded, sure, he'd be just fine. But at this point, it was really difficult for him, though that was plainly obvious.
"Alright," Remus shifted awkwardly. Neither of them were really apologizing, but it was enough for them both. A tension was still there, clinging around them like humidity just before it rained. Honestly, Remus didn't understand why the running away part was more of an issue than the everything else. So what if he wasn't there in the morning? It wasn't like they would fight forever.
However, there were things that stood out in Remus' mind, all of them from the journals that morning, all of them some of the worst things he'd ever read. "I care," he eventually added. "How could you think I don't care?"
