"What do you think I fuck--" Remus broke himself off, taking a slow, deep breath. The air released even slower than he'd taken it in and his arms fell to his sides. No, he couldn't lose it again, that wasn't even him. His head shook and he started staring at some spot on the ground, focusing on it rather than the person that stood not far in front of him.
"Look, I said I was sorry last night and that still stands. I shouldn't have said what I said and I didn't mean it." He could have done better, a lot better, but that was the best he could do right now. Until he felt better about something, he couldn't bring himself to sound too genuine or passionate or much of anything.
