He wanted to give Sirius something substantial that still left room for other possibilities in case he was completely wrong. But when he didn't get a response to his apology, a new low feeling sank into his stomach and he stopped talking, lying there just like Sirius.
It was stupid and ridiculous but Remus couldn't even think straight anymore. He moved his head and the room moved, too. Even when he closed his eyes, everything felt like it was moving, but sometimes it was good, fun like a ride at the carnival or something. Tomorrow, or the next day, or some time, he'd have a lot more to say, given that Sirius would listen.
