It was so nice to just see them again. Remus returned the hug, giving an extra squeeze, and that kiss was more than he could ask for, though he really just wanted to stay there with both of them, whether or not there were more hugs. "Of course it's me," he replied to them, even knowing that had been in question only a moment ago. It just felt right to say something so reassuring.
"Oh," he looked up toward the source of the commotion and nodded. At least they weren't stupid enough to come alone. "Okay..." Remus had no idea what any of that meant but the details could come later, so he followed them back up the stairs, finally seeing the house he'd been staying in for about a week.
Once they got into the hallway, he put a hand on James' shoulder and pulled him back silently. Remus wanted to go first, not only to help protect his friends (both a silly/stupid and nice thing), but because if he happened to run into that man with his wand, he wanted to be able to give a little payback. He'd been nice, sure, but he was also aiding in his capture and willing to use him in a way he never wanted to be used.
