Every day with lycanthropy was a battle, but the day after a full moon was definitely the worst. The transformations were painful and left Remus' body aching, exhausted from the energy it took. Unlike his first several years at Hogwarts, he was able to wake up with no self-inflected wounds these days, simply because his friends turned into animals to keep his company - something that wasn't actually that simple. He must've not been entirely asleep because Adele's subtle presence, ever so quiet and dainty, was enough to make him open his eyes.
"Hello," he mumbled through a lazy smile; it was a genuine gesture at finally being able to see her, but it was still difficult to be too happy in his state. At least he remembered clothes that kept him decent and hid the old scars that littered his flesh. She was right, too, about his own room being preferable to the hospital. That wing was last thing from private and even though Remus liked clean environments, hospitals just held a queasy feeling for him.
There was nothing else Remus could think of to say. I've missed you, and It's been awhile both seemed inadequate and at the same time completely unnecessary.
