Dinner was excellent, but that was only to be expected. The Smiths were a well appointed household, after all, and Adele it seemed had already developed an awareness of his culinary preferences. That was encouraging. Indeed, each meeting with his betrothed only confirmed his satisfaction with the arrangement. Those meetings had perhaps been fewer than a younger or more passionate couple would have preferred. Work had kept Tewdric busy in the past month, and not only work for his clients. Tewdric's legal and political experience had been of great use to the Dark Lord in these last few months, a service Tewdric found more agreeable than some of the other tasks the Dark Lord had required of him in the past. Even so it was pleasant to take an evening away from the office and the cares of state and devote some time to the plans for the wedding.
So he was mildly surprised when Adele raised the subject of recent events, something she hadn't show much interest in before, or at least not in disusing with him. "Indeed? Personally I find that journalists tend to make political developments sound more sensational than they truly are. Even important ones." He hoped his tone didn't betray too much annoyance. The hostile coverage of the new laws in the Prophet had been an embarrassment.
