Lily was pounding mercilessly on the front door of the Snape residence. Neighbors be damned and if Tobias Snape answered the door and she found out he'd done something to Severus, well, he'd be damned, too. She shouldn't even have been here, but she knew Severus wouldn't answer her on her wards if she wrote to him and she had to know he was okay. She hated thinking something could have happened to her former best friend when they'd last ended on such a sour note.
Petunia had been the one to tell her about the cops. There were cops at that Snape boy's house today. Always knew he'd end up in jail or dead, the freak. Looking back, she would probably realize it was silly to take a comment like that from Petunia so seriously, especially when Petunia hadn't spoken two words to her since she'd moved into her own flat.
Yet here she was, worried sick about Severus as she would have been just a few short years ago. As much as she tried to pretend like she didn't care at all, she really did. Even if they were no longer best friends, she cared. She never wanted something bad to happen to him, even if it was inevitable along the course he'd chosen to take.
