"Yeah, I could," Lily grinned, answering the question about her control first, that particular ability being one she was really proud of. "I'm still pretty good at wandless magic, actually." She thought about how to answer his first question as delicately as possible, knowing that the answer would be particularly touchy for both of them if not approached correctly. "There was a little boy who lived just down the road a bit in Spinner's End. He saw me at the park and knew what I was. One day, he approached Petunia and me and told me I was magical. He was the first person to tell me that what I could do was special," she smiled, remembering the first time she had met the strange little boy named Severus Snape. "For the next two years he told me everything he knew about the Wizarding world--his mum was a witch. So, when I got my letter, I knew what it was. It wasn't a surprise."
Contrary to what some may believe, Lily had very fond memories of Severus and the role he had played in her life. She didn't expect anyone to understand their friendship. Nothing would change the friendship that they'd had or the reasons why it would always be special to her.
"That is a very lovely mental image," Lily laughed, turning over onto her back to stretch her arms over her head. "Were you and Remus, Peter and Sirius always friends, then?"
