Jemma smiled at him, though the gesture was empty. "Yes, something like that. In that we didn't follow through with the contract and my family wasn't happy- but this is for me, believe it or not." She stopped looking at the room and turned back to the bar.
"I don't know, for the first time in my life I have some semblance of actual independence... I actually sort of like this job- meeting new people all of the time..." She gave a small shrug as a means to put her walls back up.
"And no pressure to reproduce," she told him with a smirk, trying to lighten things.
