RP: Holidays and the blues
When: December 23, 2004 Who: Miles Bletchley, Jemma Dorny Where: The Alexander Private/Public: Semi-public Rating: TBD Summary: Miles and Jemma are commiserating about the holidays, catching up over drinks
Miles was officially bored. There were so many activities going on with families, all celebrating this sentimental season. They had the last half of the word right. Christmas was a mental season. His family celebrated. It used to be more fun but now it was like a dinner and a gift exchange. It wasn't the same feeling he remembered as a kid. Vaguely he wondered if that was why he no longer felt connected to it. That spark or whatever one called it while they were buying things for everyone they knew, was missing.
Shrugging off the cold, he stepped into the Alexander, wanting a drink after work. There seemed to be more muggle drama than usual which meant that their office was busier than usual with aurors bringing them in by droves. They whined and cried, not knowing what was happening to them. One had actually tried to swing at Miles and needed sedation in the form of stupefy. Miles felt it unfortunate that the muggle wouldn't remember that spell when he woke up. He smirked to himself as he walked up to the bar, pushing some errant dark locks from his forehead.
"Firewhiskey, straight up," he told the bartender in his British/Irish accent. He turned to look out at the floor, wondering if there was enyone here worth talking to. The usual crowd that came in didn't seem to be there, celebrating elsewhere, he was sure. He turned back to the bar, noticing a girl over to the side, an old friend from Hogwart's. A smirk snaked across his lips. "Jemma, don't tell me you have no place better to be?"
She had ben a prefect with him the last three years of school. They were also good friends during those years. Since his return to London, they had only seen each other on occasion but their lives had definitely changed. He hadn't really wanted to lose track of her, life had just gotten in the way.
