Asher couldn't come up with a good enough excuse to avoid the annual Christmas party. Heavens knew he'd tried, but nothing good enough occurred to him and so he found himself there.
It wasn't technically work, so the social situation, despite being filled with coworkers, made him feel slightly uncomfortable.
He stuck to the cider, though he might indulge in some mulled wine or something before he left. He couldn't help but remember those times during his training, his second year when things had gotten bad and he'd been taken into the field when it wasn't time yet, when he'd drunk too much when off the job. He kept alcohol at a distance most of the time these days.
He kept to the edges, taking the time to look over the crowd. Bright green robes caught his eye--Ollie was here, then. Apparently Shae had shoehorned her into coming. And Addie was at the bar--that promised entertainment, though he hoped Davies wasn't here to see whatever it was that might happen.
Asher figured he'd make himself be social at some point. It would only be polite.
