"Not to mention that the sun will go red giant in something like five billion years, rendering all such consideration moot."
Holmes chuckles. "They are." He frowns, remembering. "Several, more than could easily be explained away, strange occurrences were reported in various locations in Scotland. Since the security of the Queen was concerned, my brother thought it best to have them investigated. As I was quite the best person for the job, he asked me to do so." Holmes shrugs. "Which I was more than happy to do."
"Ah," Holmes nods, unsurprised. "Does there appear to be any movement of your finger with one eye or the other?"
He was very good, wasn't he! My mom tells me that Jeremy Brett played the part in a similar fashion. Watson should be his foil and his sounding board. It's difficult to do the women because, aside from Mrs Hudson, there weren't really any women in canon who were anywhere near fully developed characters, aside from IA and Mary. So you sort of have to make it up. And I liked that Mary figured right out who he was when he was at the hospital. All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised. Lestrade was fantastic! :D
