Xel is glad he isn't having any memory problems. ;) On men, mouths tend to be a little closer to the nose than to the chin; on women, it's the opposite, and an XX genome makes bone structure more delicate. Granted that Xel was pretty girly looking from the get-go (and ran into a lot of trouble as a kid on that account), his face and frame still change when he switches genders, and you can see in the above shot (the camera rarely gets that close) that he does actually have a guylike chin. His usual outfit hides his body well enough that he can get away with the frame changes, but as far as the face goes, makeup will only distract someone who's actually looking at him for so long. ;)
