"It might," he agrees with a grey little laugh. More than half of him believes the Shard's ressurrection was in large part his fault. He shakes his head. "Iyaa. Of course we knew that those of your servants who survived the severance from your power would not suffer quietly. But I meant that, well..." this smile is thoroughly nasty, and if Xellos was born before long canines re-evolved on humans, it doesn't much matter. "One way or another, Phibrizzo-dono wasn't going to survive you for long. There were a few possible scenarios for that, but essentially it just wasn't going to happen. And we knew that the death of even one Lord would drop the barrier separating us from the other continent. Also, the golds had already been negotiating with Luna-dono about her assistance in fighting the prophecy that turned out to be about Dark Star, so we had a fairly good idea that the balance of power on the land was about to get..." He very nearly borrows Gaav's word, but in the end settles for, "turned on its head. And spun until it was nauseus with dizziness and then shaken hard and asked to stand on one foot. And unfortunately, Luna-dono and Zelas-sama agreed that the prophecy indicated a real threat, so we had to prioritize it over the power imbalance that would happen in the event of survival."
He nods, and says, making it formal, "Hai, Gaav-sama. Cesare-kun isn't a Shard, but he holds someone's seed. I think it's Phibrizzo-dono's, but it might be either Ruby-Eye-dono's or that of a strong minion. He has a devoted ghost attached to him, who's very strong in white magic and has an instinct for them, but is completely untrained. I think Cesare-kun may also have some magical potential, but whether his rider is its source or is eating it I haven't yet ascertained."
"I didn't like her when she was still acting like a shrine maiden," he says darkly, and clasps his hands together with a wide-eyed creepy-stalker-fangirl expression. "Oh, Rezo-sama," he gushes viciously, "don't you think Vera-sama* would like some peace and quiet and alone time? Let's go out into the orchard and you can lie in my lap! I mean, your head in my lap, did you think I meant country matters? OHOHOHOHOHO! Bitch," he adds, dropping the high-pitched whine. "She had no idea how lucky she was that Vera-chan thought she was cute."
I am, thanks! But my glasses aren't. They may be beyond repair at this point. n,n;;;;
