"No, that isn't in my nature, you are right. But it's not in Zelas's nature to be open and straightforward or to not do precisely what she believes is best for her above all else, whether or not she tells or permits her servants to act on what she is doing. I believe you that you believe there was nothing left to do, Xellos, but I do not believe that there was actually nothing left to do. It's also not in my nature to leave myself open to risks when I can remove them." He lifts his face so Xellos is looking at him directly, "I appreciate and thank you for your affection for me that all of this has upset you so much."
Gaav laughs, head shaking. "You have balls, Xellos, to risk bargaining with me. You're right, I'm asking you to care for my goals and my people with respect, open eyes, and discretion. I'm not quibbling over semantics with you. I can't force you to obey but I will expect it in some important cases out of respect for who I am, but not to put your pack in danger or to contradict orders or duties you have to Her. But you underestimate your own importance for needing my protection. You know the other Lords will be a hell of a lot more interested in you than anyone you wish me to protect. I'd think that risk alone would be worth the occasional ether snarl. I don't think your people would want there interest on you or them. Four people including you. No more."
He nods, "He was luckier there. The one here was taken at five and kept with only the crazy bitch of a "sister" and a slew of low level mazoku for occasional company."
Let's hope this works out so I don't have to spend days working on the next one. I'm crossing my fingers!
