Teddy Lupin and Victoire Weasley: Arrival
Victoire finishes packing the small basket with the last apple as well as a hunk of fresh goat cheese and bread, placing them atop the cold chicken. After a moment of thought, she opens a cupboard and takes out a small bottle of wine and puts that in as well.
Tall and slightly shaggy-haired, Teddy lingers by the open doorway, face tipped to the sun and breeze with a beach blanket draped across his arm as he waits. He glances back at his girlfriend with a raised brow at the wine. "Isn't that your dad's?"
She answers sweetly, "Non. If it was Papa's, he would have it with him or would have put it away."
Teddy still looks rather dubious but he chuckles all the same, shrugging. "Like I'll believe that tone of yours, Vic."
"Perhaps you will some day?" She smiles at him.
He returns the smile with a broad grin. "After what, nineteen years, give or take? D'you think that'll really change?"
Victoire huffs disapprovingly. "You knew my tone before I was born?"
"I said give or take," he teases. "So what if that means I'm off by two or five years?" Another glance outside then he asks, "Reckon Kali is hungry?"
She is not impressed by his reasoning but then follows his gaze to the enclosed thestral paddock. "Maybe? Papa has been supplementing her feed now and Unchi Charlie was here yesterday to check on the foal. She should not be foaling at her age, but seems well."
Teddy nods thoughtfully. "We'll take her what's left of the chicken after lunch." He takes the basket from Victoire and brushes a quick kiss over her forehead. "Ready?"
"Oui." She slides her hand around Teddy's waist as they leave the cottage and walk toward the cliffs. The summer sun is bright, but the wind sweeping over the cliffs makes Victoire's long skirt tangle around her legs. She walks through it easily, accustomed to it after having lived here her whole life.
"Let's hope the water is warm enough for a swim this time," Teddy comments.
Coyly, Victoire looks up at Teddy through her lashes and confesses, "I've not put on my bikini, mon amour."
Teddy chuckles, "M'not surprised."
"You are also not displeased."
Teddy stops along the cliff edge and pulls away from her for just a moment to check the beach below and the apparition point they should aim for, before responding a bit distractedly. "Mm, no reason to be, Vic. Right, let's try and miss the rocks this time?"
"Mais oui. The sand only." Victoire nods almost demurely then sneaks a quick appreciative glance to his arse as he pulls away.
Teddy returns and pulls her to him, winding his arms around her, blanket and all, then grins. "Don't you dare try to land us in the water, either."
She giggles, "The blanket would get wet then yes?"
"Yes. Count of three, then."
She nuzzles his chest softly. "Un, deux... trois."
With a crack, they disapparate from the top of the cliffs in front of Shell Cottage.
Teddy takes a careful step back from her as they reappear on the sand, though he does keep one arm wrapped around Victoire's waist.
"Well, we got that right this time." He laughs. "Actually sand instead of pebbles."
Victoire starts to nod her agreement but then freezes as she looks around them. "Teddy."
His brows raise at her reaction and alarm, but he's already reaching for his wand on instinct. "What?"
Victoire goes for her wand also. "This is not our beach."
"M'aware of that, Victoire," he murmurs, already scanning the area and frowning at what he sees.
Victoire stares at the curving expanse of beach, the buildings lining it, and the summer crowd. "This is very much not our beach."
