Severus signs inwardly at how good Q is at defusing him, but, well... there it is. "No, not particularly," he agrees, going on bitterly, "And yes, it certainly was. We very nearly had three students bitten or killed. However, in fairness," with a twisted little smile, "when I told you I wanted the Defense post it was only a half-truth. It was understood between Albus and I that I would apply every year so that it would be assigned to me when the appropriate emergency required it. Besides, Lupin's lycanthropy was not generally known at that juncture, and he looked to outsiders like a far more acceptable candidate than myself."
"Well, he was supposed to let it slip to you," he grimaces. "However, I often wonder whether Potter might have used a touch of child-magic in getting the same information out of him. Regardless, Polyjuice takes a month to brew, and it would be unwise to rely on not needing it before that time."
He shrugs. "In her own time, no doubt. Since she does not seem to resent the lack of structure in the days of her retirement, I conclude she is enjoying it."
