"How can salt be a metaphor?" Q asks. "It's a rock. You can't get much more real than that."
"I did say one of the reasons," he ventures timidly. "And that brings up an interesting point. Since older children seem to lose their taste for 'sludgy orange drinks', does that make it more difficult to administer the potion, since the sixth and seventh years are far more likely to need a spring fever potion?" He makes a note of this. "What did we use before pumpkins were introduced to Europe?" Q nods. "Like those awful sports drinks. A lot of them are orange."
"Well, not like Oompa Loompas or anything," he admits. "More like they've overdosed on carrots or had a tan go wrong."
"Oh I promise I'll be thorough Severus," Q says firmly. "It's not something to be undertaken lightly. Imagine getting splinched halfway between being a person and an animal!"
