Don't Have an IJ Account?
We still want your porn! *is greedy like that* There will be a post made on Aug 31 specifically for comments from participants who do not have an InsaneJournal account. Using OpenID, you will be able to post a comment and will be included in the year end master list.
What is an OpenID account, you ask...
OpenID is a form of identification used on many websites, including LiveJournal, that allows you to leave comments without ever having to create multiple accounts. It's a popular method and fully compatible with InsaneJournal.
If you don't have an InsaneJournal account but would like to leave a comment on a journal, you don't have to sign up for an account. As long as the journal allows anonymous comments you will be able to take advantage of the OpenID feature. Between anonymous and InsaneJournal user options will be a selection for OpenID, along with the Identity URL and Login? boxes. Your URL must support OpenID on its end and you would need to be logged into your account there. So if you were to use your InsaneJournal URL to comment on a LiveJournal entry, you will need to be logged into InsaneJournal.
After inputting your LiveJournal URL (http://exampleusername.livejournal.com) and posting the comment, the page will take you back to LiveJournal asking for your identity validation if you are logged in. If not, it will simply state it can not prove your identity. There will be a gray box informing you which website wants permission, with three selections.
* Yes; just this time.
* Yes; always.
* No.
After choosing one of the two YES options, you will be redirected back to the website with your comment there.
On InsaneJournal, OpenID comments are considered anonymous for the purpose of allowing / screening comments. If you are wanting to comment on someone's journal, whether it's on InsaneJournal or somewhere else, they must allow anonymous comments.
You can also add OpenID accounts to your friend's list once they have left a comment somewhere. Simply click on the OpenID symbol and visit the profile to add them. After doing so, they will be able to read your friends only entries and be treated like a normal friend.
OpenID accounts have limited features on InsaneJournal but act like an ordinary account. They can add friends, upload user icons, and customize the look of their journal. However, they cannot actually make their own posts in asylums or their personal journal. They also cannot create their own asylums or receive any paid account features. You also cannot send private messages to the accounts, as the URL is too long to type in the name field and you cannot select them from your friend's list. You cannot track or have email notifications when it comes to an OpenID account.
**OpenID information can be found in the InsaneJournal FAQ.
