Summary: Some nights were different, though. Dark nights that fell after darker days when they hadn't saved anyone, or when their office smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. Nights when her wine tasted more like regret than relaxation, and her bath was too hot and too cold. Sometimes she needed something more. She needed him, although she would never say it.
