“Teddyyyyyy!” Max called out from his spot on the floor, surrounded by boards, screws, nails, and various tools, yet of course not the one he needed. For the last week their house had resembled a construction zone with paint cans, plastic floor covers, and various half finished projects all over the place. Most of the work was being done by Teddy while Max was at the hospital, yet as soon as he got home, he jumped right in to help with whatever needed to be done. Max was used to doing work around houses to earn his keep and since he had moved in he’d been feeling admittedly lazy while watching movies and listening to music. He was thrilled to be working with his hands again, actually feeling useful around the house. Even though Teddy asked him to move in and be his partner in everything, there was still a big part of Max that wanted to prove that Teddy made the right decision. Max couldn’t contribute even half of the amount of money Teddy had spent on everything, but he’d make up for his monetary shortcomings by putting a ridiculous amount of furniture together while fixing up the house, as well.
Dressed in ratty jean shorts and paint stained sleeveless shirt, Max was currently trying to put a bookcase together while Teddy was painting in Nate’s room. Rather than keep trekking up and down the stairs, Max had set up temporary shop in the guest room while they got their room and Nate’s room done. “Babe, have you seen the hammer? I thought I left it in here last night but I can’t find it!”
