Rebekah arrived to New Orleans for precisely one reason: to find her brother. The eldest member of the remaining Mikaelson family hadn't urged her to come to the city in a quite a few days. Rebekah noted this as strange. He'd been calling her nonstop about "family" and "how they should stick together" for the last few weeks and now there had been nothing from him...not even a text. It was strange to say the least, especially since, besides Niklaus, there was only herself and Elijah remaining in their family; Kol, Finn, her mother, and father were all dead. Elijah and Rebekah managed to keep in contact now, more so than ever since he'd gone after Klaus to New Orleans. Now, there was not a peep from him concerning family or anything else. Rebekah didn't believe her brother was dead, at least, not permanently. Originals couldn't be killed by a stake to a heart, sunlight, fire, etc. Beheading might work, but the thought was a nasty one. They were also the strongest of vampires that existed in this world, the founders of their race. It would take a lot to take out a Mikaelson. Unfortunately, there was a rather tried and true method to briefly neutralize them and Rebekah had a sick feeling that such an action had already been implemented.
A dagger, dipped in white oak ash, would take down an Original vampire for good...until it was removed. Once it was removed, the Original would come back to life. In the meantime though, they were sitting ducks so to speak, dead for all intents and purposes, because they couldn't remove the dagger themselves. Someone else had to. She was pretty sure though that if Elijah was daggered again, it was by their lovely half-brother, Klaus, and more than likely, he didn't plan on ever undoing it. She could understand why he'd probably done it. Elijah preached family, forgiveness, and loyalty: all qualities Klaus saw as weakness and vulnerabilities. If he was fighting something here, if he was threatened, the last thing he would want is a bleeding heart like Elijah hanging around. No, her brother was truly a lone wolf. He trusted no one and even if Elijah came back to help him, he'd see him as more of a liability than an actual asset. Klaus's only asset was himself. There was no doubt in her mind that Elijah's sudden silence was not by choice, but by the hand of his brother once again.
Though it'd been years since Rebekah had been in New Orleans, you never forget the place that you pretty much founded or the parts that made it. Bypassing a room at the hotel, she made her way to the home the Mikaelson's claimed as their own. It was on the edge of the French Quarter, peaceful, quiet, but the moment Rebekah arrived, pushing open the door, it was all about to change. It was silent, not a sound anywhere, but she could smell her brothers here and someone else. A wolf? Or was it just Klaus? Since when did Klaus let strangers live with him? Since when did he let family stay with him either. The original sister glanced around, folding her arms upon her chest, and listened. Footsteps? Definitely. Was it Elijah? Klaus? Or this mysterious wolf? If it was Elijah, Rebekah would have nothing to fear, but Klaus was liable to put a dagger in her too. The wolf was not really a threat, but regardless, Rebekah braced herself for a possible confrontation as she stepped into the nearest room and peered around. Nothing. Exiting, she stepped out into the hall, but no one greeted her still. Something had definitely happened to Elijah, she was sure of it now.
"Elijah?" she called out, but there was no response and much like all her calls previously, he didn't answer. No one did. "Elijah!"
