He would have been entertained at her thoughts of him. He was avoiding his civic duty, and he was avoiding it well in his not-so-humble opinion, at least for the moment anyway. He knew it probably wouldn't be long before his father came looking for him again. The least he could do was make it seem like he was making nice with the guests.
He smiled as she spoke. She was an honest one, and that was a rare quality in women at these sorts of events. "I will admit, the food here is quite good. The King does know his delicacies well." He had grabbed a handful of dried fruits before approaching her, and he took the moment to pop a piece of what he thought was a dried pear in his mouth. "It is a shame you were delayed, however. I'm sure the princes would have loved to make your acquaintance."
Fredrick made a small huffing noise when she mentioned style. "Most of these people here wouldn't know style if it came up and bit them in the rear." He smiled, leaning up against the wall next to her chair. "Everyone is always so concerned about the size of their waist and the height of their hair when they should be more concerned about the fact that their dresses are about to rip at their seams."
His eyes surveyed the room, and he caught sight of his father trying to make his way through the crowd of dancing couples towards him. That was not good. Finishing the bit of dried fruits he had in his hand, he looked down at the lovely lady in blue before offering her his hand. "Would you care to dance? I feel as though a woman who looks as radiant as you deserves to have the chance to show off that lovely dress."
