Azula noticed Mai's reaction, but she mistook the action for interest instead of dread. Azula may have been good at reading facial expressions and catching signs of weakness, but Mai's patent apathy made her very hard to read. It was an excellent defense, really, one that Azula found a little annoying at times, although she had to admit that it was good strategy.
"I saw my uncle. Of all people. Just standing there in the market like it was normal." She scoffed at the memory, her golden eyes glittering as she turned them to Mai. "And you know what that means. If my uncle's here, then my sniveling brother can't be far away."
