Talking Witchy Who: Cellie and Gabby Where: Gabby's House When: Thursday, February 23rd
"Thanks for coming tonight," Gabby said as she stepped aside and allowed Cellie into her home. The two had been friends and coven members for some time now, so the occasional evening together wasn't out of the question. Especially when Jackie was out at a friends or boyfriends house. Gabby, herself, looked a little on the tired side tonight, but still happy to see her friend - and glad that she'd rostered a day off for herself tomorrow. "How've you been?"
"Thanks for suggesting we get together tonight." Joscelyn smiled as she stepped inside the house past Gabby. Most friends Cellie had in town were members of the coven she was involved with, Gabby being one of her closest. "I've been good, actually." The blond smiled again with her reply. "How have you been? And Jackie?"
"Exhausted but plugging along for me," Gabby admitted, willing to drop the whole 'brave face' thing for her friend. "And Jackie's trying and failing to do the whole teen rebellion thing. I set her a curfew and she gets home on time. I'm starting to think that I was given the wrong kid at the hospital. Seriously," she joked, leading Cellie into the living room. "Can I getcha something to drink?"
Joscelyn gave a short, light laugh at that as she followed Gabby into the living room. "I think most parents would want a child like that." One who wasn't all that rebellious, and didn't cause problems and aggrevation for their parents. "Some tea if you have some already heated, if not water would be fine." The younger witch smiled as they entered the living room.
"I think stories of my youth really curbed any rebellion in her," Gabby admitted, glad that she'd never hidden her past from her daughter. They had an open and honest relationship as a result and Gabby was glad for that. "Tea sounds excellent," she replied, moving to boil a pot for them. "Have you been up to much? It feels like it's been ages since we've had the chance to talk."
"It does seem like it has been forever since last we talked." Cellie agreed, taking a seat on the sofa while Gabby went to start a pot boiling for tea. "Not much really." She answered then. "Just working at the bakery. I am looking forward to the Vernal Equinox, though." Joscelyn in fact looked forward to all the Sabbats that ran through the year, she felt they brought her closer to those she worshiped.
"Oh wow, that's coming up fast," Gabby realized, speaking loud enough from the adjacent kitchen area so that Cellie could hear her. Once the pot had boiled, she fixed them each a large cup of tea and then cautiously returned to the living room, setting the scalding hot drinks down on the table. "I can't believe that it's almost March."
"I know," Cellie smiled when Gabby returned, "time travels so quickly." She said, which to Joscelyn it really did. It seemed that Christmas had just been there, and now it was almost March. "Thank you." She smiled politely then, leaning forward slightly to take up one of the mugs to take a sip of the tea.
"You're welcome," Gabby replied with a soft smile, taking a seat. She'd let her drink cool before she even attempted drinking it. "Oh, shoot. I forgot to ask if you'd like some cookies," she murmured with an apologetic smile. "I actually have to keep a hidden stash so Jackie can't get to them. It's funny watching her sometimes, it's like she knows they're in the house, just not where."
"That would be a treat." Cellie smiled in response. She knew Jackie well enough to picture, with slight amusement, the teenager going into detective mood to try and locate the hidden snacks. In Cellie's opinion, a couple cookies would go nicely with her tea.
"Just a minute then," Gabby replied with a polite smile, moving to collect the cookies from her well concealed hiding place. "Is it just me or have you noticed something different lately? ...Energy wise? I'm not really sure how to explain it. Maybe it's just because the equinox is coming up." She returned a moment later with an unopened packet of cookies, which she soon opened and offered to her friend.
"I've felt something in the air," Joscelyn nodded lightly, "just have been thinking it was just me." She was glad though, that it wasn't something she alone had been feeling. Her grandmother had said pretty much that same thing, that what Cellie was feeling in the air was due to the Equinox was so close.
"Hmm," Gabby murmured, wiggling the fingers of one hand slightly, testing the air. There was something... different in the air. It was as if there was something that lingered in her peripheral vision that she just couldn't quite see. It was maddening. "Maybe there's a change coming. Who knows?" She smiled lightly and sat back down, crossing one leg over the other.
"That could very well be." Cellie voiced with a slight nod. There seemed to be something lingering in the air surrounding Beaconsfield, something that seemed to be forecasting a change. And Joscelyn was refusing to let herself think that it could result in something bad. To her it was just something that was coming along with the nearing of the Vernal Equinox.
Gabby finally reached over for her drink, carefully curling her fingers around the cup and bringing it to her lips, taking a contemplative sip of the beverage. "I suppose the best we can do is wait and see for now. Maybe bring it up to the others in our next meeting," Gabby suggested.
