Date: September 26th 2031
Time: 7:35pm
Location: Five Nights Radio, Hell's Kitchen
Characters: Ben Locke, Avery Jones, and Franklin Rivers.
Description: Franklin, aka DJ Teller, interviews Locke.
Status/Rating: Private, In Progress, Rated PG-13 for now in case of naughty words.
Franklin tapped a black marker pen on his desk. Lightly tanned fingers turned the pen over with each tap, his head bobbing from side to side slightly. It might have been less irritating if he was actually tapping along to the song that was playing but he wasn't. He was stimming. Preparing himself for one of the more unusual and rare parts of his show. He was going to be conducting an interview. Franklin wasn't a big people person. Those he knew, he was more comfortable and fine with but strangers? Especially normal, baseline human ones... Those were tricky situations for Franklin.
Hitting the desk a little harder, he put the pen down and lined up the next track. Some Billie Holiday. That should do. One more track after that. Maybe something by The Ink Spots? Or Janis Joplin. Yeah that would work. Then the interview would hopefully have started.
He ran his fingers through his hair roughly, pressing his fingers to his scalp as he did so. He needed to calm himself. Find focus. Things were going to be fine. Things were going to go well. But he knew who he was going to be interviewing. Not well but still, he knew what the man represented. The man he was going to be interviewing was known as Deputy Chief Benjamin Locke, of the Department of Metaphysical Security. Franklin thought it was an overly dramatic mouthful but still. He needed to keep an open mind for this. As much as he was able.
If this Locke knew who Franklin was or knew the show, he'd know there wasn't much of a filter on how things were conducted. Franklin spoke his mind on his show and had done so for a few of years now. The show had come a long way in that time. Franklin had worked long and hard on it, doing most of the work on his own. Setting the whole thing up had cost him a pretty penny and led him down some darker roads but it had all been worth it in the end.
The building wasn't that nice. It had two floors but it was still fairly small. Franklin preferred to think of it as homely. But really, it was falling apart, and there were holes in some of the walls, but it was Franklins place of work and his home and it meant a great deal to him. He had a few ripped posters hanging up in his broadcasting room, as well as foam padding on the wall to aid with the sound. The DJ set up was decent looking enough at least, and had an old fashioned vibe to it. The equipment seemed to paint pictures of black and white televisions, men in suits and damsels in dresses, lounging on pianos. The rest of the building paid tribute to Hiroshima in a sense. There were no marks but it almost felt as if the ghosts of a time gone by were burnt into the walls, just shadows of what the world once was.
"That was Billie Holiday, and you're listening to DJ Teller at Five Nights Awake Radio. Coming up soon I will be talking with someone from the DMS. That's right, the Department of Metaphysical Security. Make sure to stay tuned in and we'll be right back after these songs". His voice was like honey. Rich, deep and soft. One of the bartenders he knew had told Franklin when meeting him, that he had a face and a voice for radio. Funny how things worked out.
