One Call Away Date: September 22, 2031 Time: Late Afternoon Location: New Haven Apothecary and Alternative Medicine Center Characters: Morgan Howell and Kieran Winter Description: Kieran needs some help Status/Rating: Private, In Progress, PG-13 for possible language
There were days that Morgan barely got a chance to eat lunch with mother's coming in for cold remedies, some kid spraining something, or the ever popular bike accident. Today wasn't one of them. Today her partners all had appointments but no one needed her help or to pick up a prescription. Which was a bit of a blessing since last night had been long. On her way home she happened upon a bike versus car situation, which is always horrible to witness. She managed to stabilize the biker while no one was looking. The whole thing had lasted a moment, she already had her hands pressed to the biker's head to stop the bleeding so healing the head wound was easy to hide.
It wasn't that she was ashamed of her gift, quite the opposite she loved that it let her help people as she would have had be become a doctor in a hospital. However she was acutely aware that some people still feared the Awoken and the last thing she wanted was for people to be afraid of her. She misjudged how bad the head injury was with all the blood and it left her head spinning the rest of her walk home. When she did get there Morgan tried to sleep it off but she was too wired, half scared someone had seen her heal someone outside the safety of the center and half exhilarated that she was able to save someone's life.
All of that left her tried today and grateful it was slow. By lunch time she was nearly nodding off working on paperwork. It was after the third time she nearly thumped her head on her desk she got up to do inventory. It didn't take long, she did it at least once a week to ensure the regular prescriptions were filled on time. However after a time she couldn't stop yawning so she propped her door open and curled up on the couch in her office, just to close her eyes. She'd hear the bell over the door if someone were coming in anyway.
