If she could remember it, Lenaya would say this had been the worst day in history. Walking to work in the storm was bad enough, but getting caught in it while it raged on with an Awoken, attacked by wild magic affecting the plant-life and then breaking and entering into a shop to escape it, all the while sustaining some mild injuries? Yeah, hadn't been the best morning. Then, of course, there was the whole getting knocked out and dragged out of previously aforementioned store they had broken into.
Not that she could remember that, either.
Instead, Lenaya's eyes fluttered open, confused by the dim lighting around her. It should have been morning, the sun should have been streaming in her window. Then again, the storm was supposed to hit today. Maybe the skies were already darkening. Aside from that, though, she felt... hungover. While she normally drank on weekends, she didn't drink like that. Her head was pounding and she felt so uncomfortable.
Finally opening her eyes all the way, Lenaya saw... trees. Why the hell were there trees? Immediately she felt the panic rise in her, feeling the dirt and ground beneath her, not at all the familiar feelings of her bed. Before she moved she took silent inventory of herself - everything was moving and working, though she felt sore. Her head was definitely hurt, possibly a slight concussion. Finally giving moving a chance, Lena sat up slowly. The scene in front of her swam up and down before righting itself. She groaned.
She was alright, though. That was something, right?
Done with her self-examination, Lena looked around her. She was practically encased in trees, there were shrubs everywhere - high enough she couldn't see over it. It was like a fucking maze. "Oh my God, it's a maze." She said out loud, standing up fully and stretching her legs. She had nothing on her and more then that, she had on an outfit she had no recollection of putting on. Touching her head, she felt caked on blood and upon inspection of her hands she found small scratches, like she'd run into a rosebush or something. She needed to get out of here and figure out what the hell was going on.
Taking several steps forward, she thought better of moving without purpose and instead knelt to the ground, digging a hole in the middle of the path - an attempt to mark where she started. Then, she dug a bit more to indicate she'd gone left. It was deep enough that it wouldn't easily be covered by wind kicking up dirt, so she nodded at it and turned the corner of the hedge. To find more hedges. And sidewalk. More trees looming overhead and -
Oh fuck.
It was Central Park. It had to be. Lena felt the panic crash over her in waves. Beside her, the hedges quivered and the storm cracked overhead, lightning brightening the sky. "Okay, stay calm Lena." She said to herself, taking another step forward, staring up to try and figure out her exact position of Central Park. She was sure if she could figure that out, she could get out of here faster. She quickly followed the maze-path to the next juncture, and as she pondered which way she should go, her eyes caught sight of something else. Well, someone else.
