Title: Too little, too late Rating: PG Word Count: 394 Characters: Just Tonks (and a bit of Remus) So. Not. Canon. Prompt:Candy Canes for awdt's two weeks of holiday quickies Disclaimer: These are not the droids you're looking for.
Christmas was here and she was determined to make the most of this holiday. She'd tried her best to bring some cheer to him, encouraging Remus to talk to her, to go out with her, to do anything to pull him out of the despair in which he seemed to wallow. Finally, out of options, she considered making a scene, but remembered she'd already gone to Molly twice for consolation, and that hadn't helped. So this holiday would be different. No matter what.
Willing her hair back to bright pink, Tonks pointedly ignored Remus, spending time with the children. She exchanged her boring brown hair for red and white stripes for the holiday, even after Harry teased her she looked like a giant candy cane.
It took five days of constant reminders to herself to keep her hair that way, but something amazing happened on the sixth day. Tonks didn't have to concentrate on the colour any longer. It stayed that way the whole day and she celebrated that night by visiting a local pub – with bright pink hair – and flirting with the boys there.
The next day she returned to headquarters, sated and relaxed for the first time in over a year, only to find Remus waiting at the door for her, fiddling with a tiny package.
"Wotcher!" she said, holding the door open for him, but he didn't exit.
"I wanted to say thank you for entertaining all of us this holiday," he said. "You made such a difference to everyone."
Everyone but you, she thought but held her tongue, trying to curtsy for him and stumbling instead. Remus caught her arm, shoving the poorly wrapped gift into her hand and rushed out the door.
Frowning, confused at why he was suddenly paying attention to her, Tonks unwrapped it, revealing one candy cane and a short note.
Dora –
Maybe my misgivings have been out of line, maybe Molly is right. Maybe this is what I need to do after all. If you're still interested, when I return, I'd like to accept that date.
Remus
Shocked, she held it in her hand for a moment, unable to believe what he'd done. If only he'd asked her days ago… but no. Not Now. She was finally accepting the idea Remus would never be interested, and she wasn't going to try any longer.
Title: Private presents Rating: R for implications Word Count: 284 Characters: Gideon & Fabian Prewett – for Jason Prompt:Twas the night before Christmas for awdt's two weeks of holiday quickies Disclaimer: These are not the droids you're looking for.
"Oi, brother mine, there you are. Is the rest of the family sleeping yet?"
Sliding through the barely ajar door, Fabian nodded. "Like babies. So what did you find for me?"
Gideon threw him a box of haphazardly wrapped things purchased in town that day. Thankfully, one of their mates was a half-blood and more than willing to take Gideon to the places in London that his parents wouldn't consider proper – or safe. "I bought three of everything, like you asked, Fab. I'm not sure what you want with three sets of toys, but you have them. There's a variety in the box. I thought the store clerk would faint when I carried all of that up there."
"What did you say, Gid?"
"Winked at him, of course, and said that one wasn't enough to keep my twin busy."
"Good answer! Here, this is for you, Ash," Fabian said, grinning and tossing him a nicely wrapped present, which looked like a book. "Spells and incantations all revolving around sex."
"Cleave!" Gideon said with delight, "How did you manage to get it?"
Fabian shrugged, acting mysterious. Besides, the bloke working at the bookshop was single and attractive, and he didn't want Gideon getting any ideas about hitting on him as well.
Thank Merlin they had each other and time away from their sister and her brood, as well as their parents. None of their present would prove to be so much fun. "No one understands me the way you do," Gideon said, opening the book to flip through the pages, patting the bed beside him. Fabian joined him, leaning against his shoulder, making a suggestion here or there about what his brother might like to try first. Christmas was the following day and rapidly approaching, but tonight was all about the twins.
Title: A perfect match Rating: PG Word Count: 240 Characters: Kingsley Shacklebolt / Gideon Prewett – for Lee ♥ (AU since Gid's alive here) Prompt:Don we now our gay apparel for awdt's two weeks of holiday quickies Disclaimer: These are not the droids you're looking for.
She'd stopped giving Gideon jumpers the year Fabian died. He'd had been unable to open the package, resting awkwardly on his left side in their sitting room, hands trembling, his eyes wet with unshed tears. No one knew what to say to him and Gideon had been left alone to deal with the horrid memories of a dead brother.
Tradition with the Weasley family meant knitted apparel from Molly, but Molly, always remembering that day, gave Gideon other gifts instead of jumpers: quilts to warm his aching side, scarves to replace the one that some patron spilled his pint on, and other practical things, such as gloves. Gideon never could keep track of his gloves.
It wasn't until years later that Molly knitted him a jumper again. Gideon unwrapped his present, grinning widely at it, and shyly watched Kingsley open his matching gift. While Gideon might have been too reserved to acknowledge her acceptance of their relationship, Kingsley wasn't. Laughing, he picked Molly up in a bear hug and kissed both her cheeks.
"That was lovely of you," he said, pulling it over his Muggle clothing. He waited two whole seconds before shaking his head at Gideon. Returning to his side, Kingsley pulled him forward and helped him put it over his shirt.
"There. Perfect," he said, resting his hand against Gideon's jaw, making him blush. At least these sets of jumpers would have no bad memories attached to them.
