The simplest explanation is that although he's not the one carrying the burden, he's the leader of the Fellowship of the Ring. He has a great destiny but is living simply as a Ranger. A good man, uncorruptible and true. At the end of the story he takes his rightful place as King.

Rest are book versions, his might be the film version. Brilliant but insecure/quirky.

This started because Tony calls me "Legolas". Pietro saved my life. So… it makes sense in my head that we both can be. (Though I probably am more Éomer.)

Bucky was The Ring contextually once. But since I never actually spoke to him, I'll take your word for it.

There's a series of books called The Lord of the Rings. Really great, can lend them to you. Tony gave me a nickname that's one of the characters. I joked that I'd have to see who everyone was.

Tony calls me "Legolas" who's an archer. He's also faster and more graceful than I really am. So since Pietro saved my life… makes sense in my head we're both that name.

Lúthien was an immortal being, very brave and powerful, who married and allied herself outside of her kind and did a lot of heroic things together, though also had a sad tendency to outlive her loved ones.

Not like a dwarf, no, but incredibly strong, unfailingly loyal and brave and good-humored. Don't believe the films, they made him jokier. I think you might identify with him a bit more in the books. …Though will admit, some of it's the hammer.
