The future isn't predictable, no. There's too many variables and possibilities, mutable due to decisions or indecisions, for it to ever be predicted. Even so, it is regrettable.
I fear this may be the case. I'd suggest a Public Service Announcement on the network, but that might alert everyone that's not involved, and potentially cause a irreversible slip up because we alerted them to the fact. It's a case of damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
