Tony Stark is characteristically hyperverbal. ([info]the_iron_man) wrote in [info]avengers_net,

[ooc: Tony only remembers up to where they were working on the time travel machine, and that he made the technodoodads for locking onto particular points in time to move to.]

Guess who figured out that time travel problem? This guy. Vicariously.

    Still counts though.

What I didn't do was teach Morgan to say "shit." Just throwing that out there. Pepper coined that word and it belongs to her.

    [Steve]

Not sure if you've remembered my meltdown at you, over on the other side of the fence where the grass isn't greener. But just so you know? Resentment is corrosive and I hate it over here too.

    [Carol]

Thanks for saving me before I kicked the space bucket. There's a reason I had a warm and glowy feeling about you.

Time travel, huh? Gonna save all of our dusty asses?

Welp? Someone's gotta get rears in gear.

Actually no though. We're a few years off building a time machine.

Only a few years? That's better than nothing. Though I understand if you can't actually undo what Thanos did.

I don't think it can be undone in a conventional sense, nope. But unconventionally? There's always troubleshooting and work arounds.

Hey, I have no objections if you find a way to bring me back. Being dead sucks.

I knew that quantum realm would come in handy sometime. Didn't I say like a year ago that it could be used for entering and exiting different points of the timeline?

But yeah, please save our dusty asses. It's not like we're all just hanging out poolside.

You did, but there was the conundrum of how to navigate to certain precise points in time. And the coordinating time pieces needed to do that.

Looks like we're just a few years off. I don't think tech has caught up with us quite yet when I have Friday run the current models and power outputs involved.

It is pretty complicated. If you had me there and I wasn't cigarette ash, it would be less than a few years. But alas.

It's mind mindbogglingly complicated. But hey! Just because we're a few years out doesn't mean we can't start breaking some eggs and cooking some bacon. There's always small scale experiments. 😉

One of the biggest brains on the planet so not surprising. Though I have a feeling it's going to be a bit like don't poke the bear when it comes to stuff like this.

Also, physics is your hobby so of course.

We might need to poke the bear. Or if we're fresh out of bears, maybe the raccoon will show up again.

Ouch! It's more than a hobby. It's work! I have to know a bit for that whole figuring out displacement, distance velocity, acceleration, time and speed. Stuff.

I could blab about it some more in case you ever needed to impress a date over dinner.

The space raccoon? Or the other kind of raccoon that leads to disaster being on the horizon?

I figured at this point that was all muscle memory. The suits have been your second skin for years now and the concepts related to that kind of physics aren't necessary for them.

I've got a conversational basis in it but having further depth couldn't hurt for when the need arises.

Space raccoon. Definitely the space raccoon.

Huh! I guess it is. I figured it out in my head and ran it through Friday. And it computed. Go me with the muscle memory between my ears, before everything gets old and gray and I need to upgrade my latest high tech prosthesis.

You got it, Nat. You want it as a power point presentation?

Not really jacked to do a repeat performance on that one! I was nearly a goner, so that was the luckiest save ever, Light-Brite.

Is there a chance that time travel could restore me as well as the others, in that timeline?

Nope! Pep started it. I learned it from watching her. While she yelled at me not to do stuff. That I did and shouldn't have done, but here we are anyway.

[private]

Others? Yes. You? Uh, that's a lot more complex. Time travel doesn't work the way you might think it does, where you'd pop up ok if we fixed something in the past.

All that would do is create a divergent timeline where you're ok, and when we went back to our point in our timeline? You would still be gone, thanks to Thanos.

Will you be able to restore Wanda?

That's what other us were aiming for. Bringing back everyone that was lost, including Wanda.

I think me and Bruce would have fixed you if we were able to, but the damage there was probably more extensive than we were capable of. Sounds like we needed Shuri for that one. Maybe after we fixed our timeline, she could work on fixing you without the stone? Dunno.

Sorry, buddy. I'm not sure what happened there.

Yep, only kinda. Quill's ship was busted during the fight and Nebula and I weren't able to fix it back to where it was before. Life support fail was in progress.

Danvers flew across us and saved our bacon. She grabbed the ship and flew it back to Earth and she is fast. But we made it back and I was upset about losing you. So lets not do that again, ok?

Ms. Danvers grabbed a spaceship? Like - with her bare hands? That's the second coolest thing anyone's ever done. Cause the first has to be inventing time travel. Does this make you Doc Brown? Y'know, like in Back to the Future?

I'm really, really okay with never doing that again. I know it's stupid, but I'm still just - I'm sorry. Things weren't supposed to get that bad. But if there's anyone out there who can fix everything? I'd bet all the things on you.

First? She totally grabbed a space ship with her bare hands and light speed flew us back to Earth.

Second? I'm cooler than Doc Brown. Please.

Last? Thanks! But seriously? Yeah, lets really not do that ever again. Seeing you turn to dust did bad things to my psyche. Dark place. You stare into it, it stares back. Do not want.

I'm glad you're here.
