The sun is high and shining. Perfectly shaped clouds softly waft through the sky, while a light breeze blows the odd cherry blossom through the air. Where there used to be cars, carefully constructed walking and bike paths took their place. It’s as if all concrete magically disappeared, leaving untouched grass, trees and the odd building instead. A cry breaks through the quiet sounds of nature. Looking up, you can see a Pigeotto using Fly, soaring through the sky. In the water, schools of Magikarp swam through. And if you listen very carefully, Jigglypuffs are singing in a line, marching through town.

People are standing in place, waiting to be spoken to, as if the bearers of some sort of secret. Everyone seems to have a purpose, whether it’s to provide advice or battle a trainer. Professor Oak is waiting to speak to anyone who asks, and there’s Poke Centres scattered throughout.

To those wanting to leave this idyllic scenario – go ahead. After all, the point of this is to catch them all, and how are you going to do that sitting at home? Just know that the pokemon get harder and harder, and the Pokemon gyms do too. You don’t need all seven badges to leave, but you might want some strong pokemon since the neighbourhood is surrounded by Pokemon gyms, each headed by one of the elite 7. You want out of here? You had better be the best pokemon trainer of all. And who knows? Maybe you’ll find a legendary pokemon. Legends say Mew Two is hanging around, just waiting to be caught by the right trainer.

Peter generally considered his enhanced senses to be an asset. Having an internal warning bell that blared when trouble was approaching was unquestionably a leg up in a fight, but there were times where he had no idea what it was trying to tell him. The churning in his stomach on Titan before everyone had been swept away into dust was one of those occasions, and this, apparently, was another.

"Not again," Peter muttered from his perch on a fire escape somewhere in Tribeca. He was trying to get a feel for his new temporary neighborhood, but that was kind of hard to do when there was that itch he couldn’t scratch. As long as it wasn’t Thanos, Peter was sure he could make it through anything. The bar had gotten very, very low.

He’d barely made it down a block on his way back to Mr. Stark’s before a ripple of energy surged through the air. His webshooter’s aim went askew, sending him gracelessly smacking into a building and tumbling to the ground below. By the time he got back to his feet, expecting dirty pavement beneath him, the world had changed.

The grass was a bright green, a far cry from New York in the grimy wintertime. His surroundings looked familiar in a weird way, like he'd been here before. As Peter took in the changed landscape around him, he realized that he had, but not in any kind of reality outside of video games and his and Ned’s tireless rounds of Pokemon Go. And so if there was one thing Peter Parker knew, it was a Pokeball when he saw it.

"Holy shit." His voice was an octave or higher than usual as he crouched down to part the grass. He should really call Ned. Or he should call Mr. Stark, really, since he was either on drugs or had hit his head hard, but...for reasons he couldn’t place, picking up this Pokeball seemed way more important.

New York City was 'the concrete jungle,' as Gamora had come to learn. In the wintertime, as it was now, everyone seemed fond of head-to-toe black outfits as they shuffled to and fro to keep warm, getting to where they needed to be. She was on her way to pick up some food for a late lunch, since she'd gotten distracted with surfing through all the options on Netflix - it was Sunday, a day of rest supposedly, a concept she was still getting used to - when she noticed that it wasn't so slushy grey after all.

It looked like the other seasons just whipped past them and dissipated without them knowing, all in the blink of an eye. Now she was surrounded by so much greenery and liveliness, the world around her practically bursting with happiness, or potential woodland creatures. Maybe even singing princesses? She hoped not that. She'd have to kill them.

Then she stopped, unclenching her fist, noticing a small red-and-white ball there in her palm. That's when she veered off course to investigate further. "What is this?" she asked, once she came across someone else who had pulled the same ball-thing from the grass near her.

Peter was used to weird things happening, but not usually when no drugs were involved. He didn't typically work on weekends, and was on the couch lazing when things ... changed

Suddenly, he was laying on a plush grass lawn, and there was a sense of happiness in the air, something that he would never have attributed to New York. The townhouse was gone, everything was gone, but on his belt, he had a red-and-white ball.. HOLY SHIT. Scrambling to sit up, he got on his knees and nervously held the ball. This was a motherfuckin' pokeball. He would swear his life on it.

During the time-of-no-women, Drax and Peter had fully immersed doing sweet fuck all with their time (hence the filthy house). Peter had binged all the cartoons he could find, but Pokemon had been his absolute favourite. With shaking hands, he held the ball in front of him and pushed the button, waiting anxiously to see if it was empty or had something in it.

It did not disappoint. Standing on the ground in front of him, a quizzical look on its face, was a real life, honest to god, Squirtle.

"YES!!!" He leaped up and pumped his fist in the air, doing a few dance moves for good measure while the pokemon stood there looking annoyed. "Squirtle!!!"

"Yes! Yes buddy! You are a squirtle and I'm your fucking master! Hell to the yes!!" The squirtle did not look impressed, but Peter sure was. Looking around, he tried to see if he could figure out where Gamora had gone when he saw Drax. Oh right, Drax lived here too.

"DRAX! WE HAVE POKEMON! IT'S LIKE THE GREATEST DAY SINCE FOOTLOOSE CAME OUT ON VHS!"

Peter was going to be yelling everything excitedly for the next few hours.

Day 210, post-Z

The city no longer makes a sound. In the beginning, when the infection was new, and the dead were few in numbers, people weren’t afraid to make a noise – a small one maybe while rustling for firewood, or searching for other survivors, but a noise nonetheless. Nowadays, people know better. At least, those that stayed behind learned the lesson, and learned it fast. The city was the worst place to be, with their population, and lack of fortified buildings. Sure, the first survivors tried everything to keep the zombies out of their buildings, but knocking down staircases didn’t necessary mean the building was safe.

Those buildings usually crumbled fast. Turns out, the only guaranteed way to keep a zombie out, was to make sure no humans were inside. Fire worked wonderfully for that and the smoldering wrecks of buildings, scattered with human bones are a testament to that.

There’s a story though that if you head to the East, the US government (or at least the closest thing to it) is still running. There’s electricity. Food. Water. A cure. It’s there for whoever can make it. Good luck battling your way through the masses of zombies, the human settlements and the roving packs of feral dogs. Your guess as to which is the safer of the three. Your guess if the rumours are even true.

It was like he blinked

No. It wasn't like it. That's what actually happened. One moment, Nick was watching the news, wondering what the fuck was happening in Jersey, and in the next, it was the motherfucking apocalypse.

His tastefully decorated apartment was suddenly grimy, streaked with unknown stains, with the windows broken. He heard nothing outside which worried him. Reaching for his gun, he slowly inched his way to the window.

Nick peeked outside. It was hell. Garbage was strewn everywhere, there were no signs of anyone, and a strange, low keening could be heard in the wind.

Through the corner of his eye, he saw a shambling creature slowly walk down the centre of the street. It was clearly struggling to move and yet Nick could see a certain determination in its movements. It was looking for something, but for what, nick wasn't sure.

He idly hoped no one was planning on visiting today. It would not be a good day to be caught in the crosshairs.

Clint knew quiet. There was a certain stillness that came on the farm in midwinter. An almost absence of sound when the snow was heavy on ground, absorbing everything. Clint would pour his coffee in the morning, wrap an arm around Laura, and in the precious few moments before one of his kids started screaming, he'd look out over the silent world.

This was that kind of quiet. Except he wasn't on the farm. This was Manhattan. He set down his pizza slice.

When things go to hell you find someone to watch your back. Head to a safe spot. And from here that was Fury's.

The walk over was...interesting. Ducking around corners, avoiding crowds of shambling undead. He had to drive his dagger into the skull of one, which oozed some foul black liquid down his arm. That was gross. He texted Fury when he arrived, smearing goo across his phone screen.

Steve had been working through his list of things he should try when everything around him changed. His chair clattered backward as he bolted to his feet. The apartment seemed to have aged decades before his eyes. There was no doubt about it, something was amiss, and the only thing he could think of was the Time stone. And one other thing...

"...Peggy."

For the first time since he'd returned Steve grabbed up his shield. The rest of his gear was at Stark's, but the lack of a uniform had never stopped him before. He burst out of the apartment, vaulted the railing of the staircase to rush outside.

The scene he was met with outside was straight out of a nightmare. Rotting corpses moving around in jerking motions and making the worse sounds Steve had ever heard. And they were lurching toward him. Well, there was no time like the present to get back into the saddle.

Steve's shield flew, tore through rotting torsos, smashed in putrid skulls all while he made ground for himself. Rounding a corner he saw a familiar figure. One the ground, pulling itself forward one of the dead reached for an unprotected leg. Steve ran forward, up the back to the top of a car from which he leaped into the air only to come down, shield edge first, onto the back of the neck of the foul thing. The head broke free from the body with a sickening crunch.

Steve stood up panting for breath then swiped a hand across his shield. "Hey, Clint."

There is a bite to the wind, a sharpness that resonates throughout. The trees grow tall, the villages grow scarce, and the fortresses grow strong. The North has always been known as a cold, bitter kingdom and today, it shows. Far in the distance, the imposing Wall looms over the kingdom protecting everyone from The Other Side.

At least, it used to.

With the warring in King’s Landing, the ongoing succession wars in Dorne, and the instability of the Iron Islands, the relative peace in the North has been broken. The King is a bastard, his sister a Lady, and the armies small. The Black Brothers have offered their help, along with the Wildlings, but it’s every man for himself. How much longer will the Wall stand? To leave this land is to go through the Wall, but they say White Walkers have broken through, the direwolves grow in numbers and strength, and dragons have been seen flying. Where there are dragons, the Khaleesi and her Khalasar are bound to follow.

This will be an all-out slaughter. Be prepared.

"Oh this is... not good."

Val had hardly been on the roof a few moments. After her monthy bath, it was the first place she went to. She had been delivered breakfast, and hadn't even touched it. But she had managed a bath and if there was anything else she was going to manage today, it was going to be a ride on Strider, he deserved that.

At least that was the plan.

But she was hardly managing a few mental words with him when the chill in the air changed. Her eyes narrowed as the odd feeling of unknown magic crept over her. She knew the varying magics that could accomplish this but this was not Odin, Hela, nor Loki. She saw the ocean around them begin to harden to ice, and a strange shape above the clouds looked... well she knew what it LOOKED like but... there were no dragons in this realm. At least there hadn't been previously.

"Not good at all..." She paused a moment, putting a calming hand on her (let's be honest) already steadfast and calm steed. I will return shortly. Do what you must. After his assurance, she swept off of the roof and leapt the stairs, racing to Loki's room and without a thought, threw open the door and walked inside. "We have a problem, and for once it is not me threatening an elder with death."

Loki was at his desk sorting through a golden puzzle, one that was barely half completed with several very tiny fragments. Or at least he was in the midst of a puzzle, when he felt an odd sensation move past him. A shift in the scheme of things caused him to shiver involuntarily, even before the Valkyrie barged in. That was a bad habit of Thor's, and he very nearly yelled Thor's name, when it registered who it was (a recently bathed Valkyrie, he insisted) and her statement (nothing benevolent ever started with 'We have a problem...').

The puzzle was forgotten as he stood up and started moving, glancing at her worriedly and taking hold of her hand as he walked out the doors and went to the roof. He was hit with a chill wind that was revolting to him. It was a bitter reminder of the Jotunheim. And here he was, confronted by a scene that was like a medieval winterscape than a modern Midgardian city. It was snow and ice and everything he hated.

"We do, indeed, have a problem." His armor was on in an instant, as was the Valkyrie's armor. "I recreated the shield, but it is a poor facsimile to what Heimdall could once activate."

A large dark shadow slipped through the clouds before a plume of fire hit the side of a nearby building. Off in the distance, there was the sound of fire alarms and screaming.

"...oh that's wonderful," he sarcastically complained, gesturing at the fire with one hand. "This isn't even the right realm for drakes to live in. That's simply irresponsible."

Loki took out his cellphone and took a picture because that was what most Midgardians seemed to do when trouble ensued. He quickly put it away, back into his pocket dimension. Right. Back to task.

"I'll send a double of myself to warn everyone downstairs," Loki told his best friend with benefits. "The elders can take the children down to the vault steps. Everyone else can arm themselves, and I'll activate the shielding once we're certain Thor is here."

After sending down an illusionary double, Loki threw up his hands to cast a spell. A green glow moved over the building, beads of sweat froze over his brow as he hid the entire building from any potential foes. It resembled nothing more than the frozen water around them.

When he was done, he said, "If anything malevolent comes toward our home? Kill it. We should wait for Thor before venturing out into that mess."

Well, winter was Natasha's favorite season.

Not that this was any real consolation. She'd arrived at the Asgardian homestead (another thing she'd been filled in on, the arrival of refugees and the attempts to rebuild) only minutes before shit started slamming sideways. Thor had extended her an open invitation, to talk or trade punches, and she'd planned on today being a good day to take him up on it. Which it probably had been, right before the polar vortex decided to descend and a leather jacket and jeans seemed like something an actual idiot would wear into the weather, instead of what they'd been when Natasha had dressed that morning, which was a person relatively comfortable with cold.

Though to be fair, she'd told Tony only days ago that she preferred to be somewhere she was useful. And this seemed like a situation that suitably fit the bill. Standard garden variety weird-shit-that-only-people-specific-skills shit, probably...until she squinted a little closer at what, exactly, was coming over the snowy horizon.

Natasha was a devote Game of Thrones watcher. It had been a frequent source of her complaints in the last two years when they'd been on the run, that they needed to, at some point, go somewhere she could catch up on the season, they were not long seasons, okay, God forbid she have this one thing. She knew her Dothraki from her Unsullied, her Starks from her Lannisters, and those things were, most definitely, White Walkers. And that thing flying over head was a dragon. Specifically it was Drogon.

It was so inappropriate and she knew it, but even as she checked to make sure both her bites would be firing at their highest capability, she couldn't help letting out a quiet, private "awesome."

A serene day on the water is brutally interrupted by the sound of screams and maniacally jovial singing. The words ‘rum’ and ‘yo ho ho’ are heard admist the waves crashing against the bows of the boats. Somehow, the water itself has become more aggressive, and distinct fins lightly crest the water.

“Avast,” a voice comes across the water, booming in its confidence. “We’ll be takin’ over from here, ladies, afore you come to any danger.” A smile dotted with gold teeth and decay shines from the ship next door. “Can’t be havin’ nothin’ untoward happen. Not when there’s pirates about.” At that, a great laugh breaks through the ship, as figures materialize on the top. Behind, there’s another ship, heading towards a different ferry but both have the same thing on their mast: the black flag with skulls and bones. “Boardin’ time, boys! And remember -- no prisoners!”

The cheerful cries at odds with the screams of the passengers. The only way to end this is to defeat the captain. Good luck to you all, and hey, who knows? There might be some good booty at the end of this.

It was supposed to be a good day out with the girls. There was supposed to be good food and good company. Of course, the universe had other ideas. One moment she was having a perfectly nice conversation with Wanda and Peggy as the ferry made its way. The next the water turned rough. Pepper let out a small sound of surprise before she grabbed both women by the hands to go see what was going on. The sight that waited for them made her blink.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me." Pirates? Tony was never going to stop whining that he missed seeing pirates.

What on Earth...?

Wanda so rarely got to enjoy time with 'girlfriends,' mostly because she didn't really have any. Pepper had asked her to help with selecting a restaurant to cater vegan dishes for the upcoming wedding, so Wanda vowed to do her best - her goal had been to do this again sometime, just have a nice day out even if it was a little chilly and she wore one of Bucky's sweatshirts to really swallow her and keep her warm.

She was not anticipating their low-key ferry to turn into something from a pirate movie - but when she heard the word untoward, she bristled. Yeah, right. Not unless the gold-toothed man wanted to be telekinetically clawed to crimson dust.

Which she might do anyway.

"We will take care of this," she promised. "And first must help the other passengers to stay calm?"

"I really shouldn't be surprised at all anymore and yet..." She said softly, giving Pepper's hand a reassuring squeeze as she instantly turned her body to place herself between her friends and the nearest ladder that had fallen from the pirate ship to their own, pulling her gun from the back of her jeans. This was going to be a chore. "Honestly, the Jolly Roger is so cliche as well." She muttered, rising to her feet and pulling her friend's up with her. "Wanda's right although I-" The air was filled with various screaming and the sounds of feet scattering in different directions. "I don't know how easy that will be."

She nodded in the direction away from said ladder and made sure to keep Pepper between them. "Which stone do you think cau-" She popped off a shot, knocking the first pirate in close sight back to fall into the water. "-sed this? Time?" Now she wished she had spent more time letting Tony blather on about what he knew instead of trying to get him to eat actual food instead of just using the different alcohol types as his food pyramid.

For over 130 years, the Statue of Liberty had stood proud, tall and green, welcoming all who come in at Ellis Island. At any given moment, countless people are around, milling at the bottom of the pedestal, maybe discussing lunch plans, maybe discussing if they want to go up or not. Conversations everywhere, talking about anything, everything, and all in between, embracing the right to free speech.

One thing everyone can agree on is that the Statue has always stood there, and will always stand there. As of five minutes ago, the second statement is no longer true. The creaking noise of the foot moving is deafening. Thankfully, it is enough to warn everyone that something is happening, gives them all time to escape, to run, to spread the word.

The Statue is finally tired of standing. She’s got her sandals on and you know what? These sandals are made for walking. It’ll be hard to get her back on her pedestal.

There was absolutely no straw to pull on this one. If someone was going to handle Miss--or it was Lady, wasn't it? Liberty. It probably would have to be Thor or Scott. Since Scott was the only Avengerly like type that seemed to be noticing one of America's greatest icons having a Ghostbusters moment, he didn't exactly have time to sit and freak out and try to call Hope and anyone else.

At the very least, Scott had a handle on growing in size and then back small with he needed to. Not as well as he did when he was tiny, but he didn't get exhausted so quickly.

Due to molecules and science of the body though he couldn't exactly stay that way very long still. The larger he got, the more his molecules had to adapt...and Lady Liberty was huge. As in tall, not in fat. Definitely not fat. Her dress was flattering and she was gorgeous. But terrifying as a moving form.

He took the quick way to the island a Liberty seemed to be gaining awareness of her movements, all but destroying her former pedastal. Antoinette carried Scott along her back and quickly before he dropped right off onto her crown, flipping off and onto the island beside her, adjusting the settings on his suit to her size. Oh boy. Her face carving was emotionless, but to Scott, she looked pissed. "Ma'am--ah, Lady Liberty? Hi, I'm Scott. I'm not sure if you're aware but you're scaring the citizens and um. I need you to not leave and go terrorize the city please?"

Yes. Even at this size and with an object that was not quite alive, Scott did not care for the violence. Which was a shame because a giant copper torch to the head really fucking hurt and sent Giant Man backwards into the water. "Ow, shit ow." He pushed himself upwards quickly so he wouldn't sink, cradling his head and helmet. "Hey, this is really expensive equipment and it's not mine. I am not going to fight a National Monument. Liberty, please can we just--" The Statue wasn't having it. She wanted to get to the city and that was that. This time she went for anothing bapping, but with her book. Luckilly Scott saw it coming and caught it. "No, no. We're not hitting. We're staying right here until someone can figure this--wait."

Scott didn't have to fight or destory an American treasure (and soil the Avengers') at all! The only thing making Ms. Liberty so dangerous was her size. So he could just take away the threat of that. Pulling a shrinking disk from his belt, he tossed it into her robes and down she went, to about the size of a normal person. Still scary. But Scott was way ahead of it. Taking the destroyed pillars of her monument, sorry America, he boxed her into what could only be described as a baby play pen, shrinking down to only stay larger than her to keep watch. "There," he breathed, quite pleased with himself. "Now you just sit in there and relax. I'll keep you company until we can get you back to your normal self---wait. Fuck. You can't even understand anything I'm saying." The Antman sighed and rested his helmet in his hand. "You're French."

Do not rub your eyes. Do not look away. This is reality now, and by the way, your block leather shoes? Fabulous. Don’t mind the lava pit -- it got put in yesterday, and we’ll see how we like it later. Everything you touch can be taken down, fixed, remodeled and put back.

There’s no rhyme or reason, no story line that needs to be followed. You just need to build and build and build some more. Maybe if you build your way to the top, you can find the City in the Clouds. I’m sure they have someone who can help you get home. If not, well, can I interest you in a castle made out of candy canes? Or maybe a house with unlimited floors?

The only thing stopping you is your own creativity.

Strange was meditating in the Sanctum when he felt a shift in the energy around him. A massive change in the physical world as they knew it. He barely had time to open his eyes by the time that Wong was stepping through a portal.

"I sensed some sort of attack on this Sanctum."

"...it's the Reality Stone," Strange guessed. He remembered the similar sensation of its power when Thanos revealed what Titan once looked like. He stood up and his cloak fluttered over, resting on his shoulders. He closed his eyes, opening them a moment later. "It's at Stark's building. Let's go."

A portal was quickly opened, and he and Wong swiftly stepped through it. But what looked like the interior of Stark's office quickly became something much different once they were on the other side.

Everything was very cubical. Brightly colored and textured boxes were being piled up or knocked down by screaming cube people. A blocky grey dog was hopping by as though lost. And off to one side of the road, a wooden sign was written in the sort of rudimentary lettering on expected out of MS Paint: Welcome to Hoboken

"Looks like we took a wrong turn at Albuquerque," Stephen said, unenthusiastically.

"You should trust this feeling," was Wong's ever serious sounding reply. "This sign says we are in Hoboken."

Strange shook his head, which felt as though he had lost some mobility all of a sudden. When he looked over at Wong, one side of the black line that was Strange's mouth widened out by two or three pixels.

Wong was a double-wide block version of Wong. And when Strange looked down, his blocky booted feet were below, and as he turned, he could see what he imagined to be a flat red rectangular tile was wildly flapping up and down off his shoulders.

"I don't....even know what to do with this."

"You gather and build, mine for ore, and corral your pigs and sheep."

"You know an awful lot about this, Wong."

"Even if I didn't know about Beyoncé, it does not mean I've never played a video game. We have wifi. Minecraft is a zen-like experience."

As clunky looking people bounced around on blocks around them, Strange held up both of his hands and two flat tiles formed over his 'hands,' the pixels moving like a fire tile. He attempted to open a portal, but it was square and kept shrinking in on itself, not allowing him to open it in a way that was familiar. He portaled the dog out of the way of a mob of people 'walking' through so it wasn't bumped out of the way. It seemed as though the portals were only allowed within the confines of this area, without any way out.

"We can't portal to Stark."

Wong was holding a small black rectangular tile with a white tile set inside it. He kept touching the square that was his fist onto it but couldn't seem to get it to work.

"There is no way to send a text or call." Wong put it back in a pocket, but there was a lot of difficulties doing so.

"That stone removed us on purpose." Stephen was irritable as he guessed at why this happened.

"We would try to take it to Kamar-Taj," Wong agreed. "Removing us could be an act of self-preservation."

"Stark's an egotistical asshole, but not where he'd try to use the stone. Something else must have happened."

Some blocky children began to knock away some of the street and started laying down lava traps. Stephen felt himself developing an eye twitch as a wandering chicken fell into it and keeled over sideways.

Strange resisted the urge for a fried chicken joke. There was too much possibility for people to get hurt before the stone could be stopped and things set back to normal. He tested a portal, even if it was a square, and was able to drop the children into a nearby pool of water. They swam away quickly.

Wong hummed with approval.

"Our portals work in here. So. We need to protect these people from...themselves," Dr. Strange said, and when he looked over to where Wong was, his friend and mystical colleague was no longer standing there. Instead, he was further off looking into an open inventory box.

As Stephen watched, Wong began digging a pit with dizzying efficiency.

"This is no time to go into a zen trance while playing with kiddie blocks," he said, which did nothing to stop Wong's building frenzy.

"I am building a corral for people. We can put them in it and fix what they have undone. We should do this before nightfall when the zombies and skeletons spawn."

"...uhh, good idea."

Time seemed to be of the essence, and there was some method to the madness. Once Stephen joined in, he had to admit that it was rather soothing to knock things down and build things up. In no time at all, they had a pit which hit bedrock and built a ladder to climb out. Wong showed him how to create a gateless fence, and they constructed it around the top.

Soon enough, many 'looters' were safely portaled down to the bottom of the pit and harmlessly bumping around into each other. Meanwhile, Strange and Wong were working in tandem to put a post office back together.

Whatever was happening at Stark Industries, Stephen couldn't tell. He couldn't help at this point, and it seemed as though they were playing by the rules set by the Reality Stone. As time went on, he and Wong worked in silence, fixing what they could as fast as they could.

The closer anyone is to the Stark Industries building, the more everything seems to fall apart. People's faces begin to resemble cubist paintings, the colors strobing between vibrant and muted, between black and white. Skyscrapers resemble silvery ribbons reaching for the sky, waving in a cold winter wind. Here and there some broken glass falls down. The jagged shards embed deep into green spaces and cement without shattering on contact, sending pedestrians running for cover. With reality warped and internal structures seeming strangely intact, unlucky weekend employees begin a mad scramble to escape. They rush down staircases to the lobby, only to find themselves clamoring out of lobby doors to arrive at the wavering rooftops. Many discover it's best to rush back inside and hope for the best. They hope that it will pass. That it won't get worse.

Overhead, the sky darkens with churning clouds and a dense fog begins to obscure everything. Some sections of the sidewalk and streets turn into a roiling bubbling goo that tires and feet alike start to sink into. It is foreboding for anyone trying to draw closer to the epicenter...and more so for those trying to escape.

These are the first threads unraveling. This is reality breaking down.

In the first ten minutes of being in the immediate vicinity of the Reality Stone, Tony wasn't sure what was real or what wasn't. He took two steps forward to wrap some of the nanobots around the stone. Instead, it looked like it was twenty steps back. It was difficult to suit up under the sort of circumstances when one's limbs resembled Slender Man, which was a trip that Tony hadn't taken since his tender years at MIT. He knew what lost weekends were before he was seventeen.

It was impossible at this juncture to tell what the effect radius was. He couldn't help but think about Pepper. When he got a bug up his butt and took off to test out the new scanner, she mentioned doing something that day and that she told him about in a e-mail, and a text, and face to face. Something involving real life things, which Tony thought the following in the midst of trying to fix this shit:

Tech Stuff: No problem remembering that. That was 24/7.

Real Life Stuff: What? That was the stuff that Pepper kept giving him The Look about. That look was real.

Grand Irony: The Reality Stone bitch-slapping everything and everyone in the face. Including his baby mama that he needed to marry ASAP, if they could keep the stone from warping everything to Hell and back.

Bonus: He'd kind of like not to mess up the planet again.

In a stroke of luck in their favor, he bumped into a lab table hard enough that it jarred him. As he winced at what felt like a punch to the kidneys, the suit was able to finish forming over him and he began talking. Quickly.

"Yay! Friday, we're gonna mock up some sort of containment with the nanobots if we're in range. Let's scan this and see where there's any fluctuation that can let me get closer to....Jane and Hope."

'I'm on it.'

It occurred to him that they looked - supposedly, it was hard to tell - much closer to the stone than he was. When he started to suit up, it must have registered him as a threat and warped reality to move him further away.

He activated the outbound comm and told them, "Understatement of the decade here, but I think it's pissed off. Maybe try saying something nice? You know, without tea bagging it again."

Reality seemed to bend and change, distance warping. Jane was reminded of Lewis Carroll, who wrote Alice in Wonderland. She'd read somewhere that he hadn't just been high off his guard when he described the trippy scenery and objects changing in shape but that he had migraines which distorted his perspective. It must have been something like this. Everything is askew and Jane nearly empties the contents of her stomach onto her shoes.

When she straightens, all she can think about is red. Her body thrums. She could take the stone. Use it. She's had it once before. Why shouldn't she?

Jane remembered watching the stars go out.

"Make it stop!"

Hope was always prepared with the Wasp suit. When everything started to look like a Tim Burton film on meth, she donned her gear - and shrunk, wings frantically fluttering to lift her and bring her, at high speed, to where she knew she needed to be. This was the work of one thing and one thing only.

Zip, zip through the air - and her goal had been to keep her head on straight, to bypass all the walking, talking cube art and kaleidoscope of weird, by her shrinkage and the Pym Particles doing their job of shifting matter into the Kosmos Dimension; it was fighting a reality warp with a bit of a reality warp of her own, and it seemed to do the trick.

Because she got to the stone, safely. A tap of the growth mechanism brought her back to her normal size, still wearing the suit. She saw Jane and went to her immediately - now, Hope wasn't really all that touchy-feely; she didn't give out warm hugs on a cold day (she was a cold day), but she put her arms around Jane not just to hug her, but to hold her back from doing something she'd no doubt regret.

"No one's going to hurt you," she spoke - to the stone, who could obviously hear her. The only option they had was to convince it to return to a state where it wasn't angrily showing off what it could do. "I promise. I wouldn't make a promise I couldn't keep."
