Open! - Soul Dimension
Who: Open to all Soul Dimension dust-ees.
What: a safe harbor for those in the Soul Dimension.
When: sometime after Wanda sending out a mental lure to anyone nearby.
Where: The Soul Sanctum.
Rating: ?

Under a perpetually orange sky, one block of Greenwich Village had been meticulously reconstructed. Roads branched out in New York's familiar grid of streets. They stretched one mile in all four cardinal points - as best as could be determined - floating upon the surface of the water.

These roads all led to the Soul Sanctum, a perfectly rendered recreation, rising up out of the water like a beacon to those who were lost.

Inside, the Sanctum was faithfully copied from Strange's extensive memories. Everything from the demonic fridge (which he had grown profoundly fond of), to the individual pages of the books he memorized. Right down to a voice activated blue tooth speaker, which was currently playing a playlsit that included Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here.'

That is where Stephen Strange was. The doors of the Soul Sanctum wide open, which would have never happened in New York. The sorcerer in his red cloak was meditating in an old wing-backed chair on how to fix the portal problems, and waiting with Wanda for the arrival of those she had reached out to.

Stephen could tell she needed that trust and confidence. Despite being his own island of a person, he wasn't backing away from offering comfort. He had been hugged onto by countless thankful family members or friends, rested a hand on the shoulder of just as many as they were grieving.

It also took him a long while to get past a professional facade to anything truly personal. Right now, he realized it was not the right time to play House M.D. and be a smart ass. People needed to be reassured. The situation needed to be taken control of, to be changed quickly.

"The quantum realm is a place where time and space move differently," he attempted to explain. "I haven't explored it as much as I'd like. I was wary of traveling through on a spiritual level. With your powers, it's highly possible to put out a psychic wave with the message. Like a tsunami. Even if someone's not using the tunnel? You should be able to reach anyone in a connecting dimension who is psychically sensitive. If someone is using the tunnel? Even better. The message will hit them first, and it will hit them before anyone else. That's what we need."

He held her much smaller hand in his own scar covered ones.

"We're a layer that does not belong here," he explained. "What I saw through the window is a reflection of a world absorbed from the primary universe we splintered off from. I don't know what this might mean in the long run, if there would be any lasting effects. But time is moving erratically. That's why we're doing this today."

What time moving erratically meant? He wasn't sure. What he was sure of, was it gave him a bad feeling.

"I see," Wanda nodded. "And no, I agree with you. We do not belong here - this," she looked around, taking in their surroundings. The Sanctum looked familiar, it was exactly how she remembered it in Greenwich Village, but it wasn't real. "This is not our world. It's an illusion. A long-term stay would harm us."

It wasn't like they could kick back and enjoy the vacation, after all. Felt like fitting a square peg into a round hole - their presence was unwelcome and uncomfortable. "I do sense the...other layers, what surrounds us," she said. "The membrane between worlds is very thin here. If I concentrate - I can feel things pressing against us, from the other side. There are so many realities..."

She wouldn't want to be caught in some kind of loop, re-living the worst of it all over and over again, but that was why Stephen would use the rope and tether her to him. It would work out.

"Today, then. I am ready when you are."

As he stood up, Stephen gave Wanda's hand a light but reassuring squeeze before letting go. She sensed it too. That unwelcomeness, the thinning between the layers of the multiverse, and the pressure closing in.

He wouldn't lie to her. There was no use in offering false comfort and she likely already knew the truth. Or felt it, at the very least.

"A longterm stay would end us," he confirmed. "There would be no return. It has to be today. Meditate if you can, focus on gathering your strength. I'll make sure our guests are comfortable. Then I'll come back and we can leave."

He nodded to her before turning away. If anyone could do this, Wanda could. It would work out.
