Open! - Soul Dimension
Who: Open to all Soul Dimension dust-ees.
What: a safe harbor for those in the Soul Dimension.
When: sometime after Wanda sending out a mental lure to anyone nearby.
Where: The Soul Sanctum.
Rating: ?

Under a perpetually orange sky, one block of Greenwich Village had been meticulously reconstructed. Roads branched out in New York's familiar grid of streets. They stretched one mile in all four cardinal points - as best as could be determined - floating upon the surface of the water.

These roads all led to the Soul Sanctum, a perfectly rendered recreation, rising up out of the water like a beacon to those who were lost.

Inside, the Sanctum was faithfully copied from Strange's extensive memories. Everything from the demonic fridge (which he had grown profoundly fond of), to the individual pages of the books he memorized. Right down to a voice activated blue tooth speaker, which was currently playing a playlsit that included Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here.'

That is where Stephen Strange was. The doors of the Soul Sanctum wide open, which would have never happened in New York. The sorcerer in his red cloak was meditating in an old wing-backed chair on how to fix the portal problems, and waiting with Wanda for the arrival of those she had reached out to.

On cue, their host came into view.

"Mr. Fury, Miss van Dyne," Strange said, floating toward them thanks to the Cloak of Levitation. "Welcome to the Soul Sanctum. I see you both made it here in one piece."

There was a long pause before Stephen almost winced.

"I...didn't mean it like that." He coughed to clear his throat. "Wanda sent out a call. I'm glad you both were able to make it here. I'm having a difficult time creating portals here. Sorry. Couldn't go get you ourselves, and we've been looking for a way out of this mess."

In one piece. Har, har - or actually, Hope found the subsequent wince on the doctor's end to be more amusing. She simply gave a huff of a chuckle, fatigue laced on the end - maybe she wasn't physically exhausted, but mentally? It had been a trying ordeal leading up to this clusterfuck of a conclusion, let's just say.

"So how is the 'way out' going anyway?" she asked, smoothing her hair into a ponytail and twisting it up to be out of her face. Even in an alternate dimension of orange hell, she would damn sure have a hair tie. Now if only orange hell provided dresses with pockets, we'd be in business. "The quantum tunnel was finished by the time we all got dusted. Presuming Scott's not stuck in the quantum realm himself, he should have the plans to use it."

Both him and Stark - but she didn't see Tony here, so she assumed he was one of the lucky ones left behind. Probably leaping into action and sciencing himself to death, if she knew the Stark work ethic - she didn't picture him as the 'selfishly broad in a dark room, alone' type.

Stephen cast a quick glance over at Fury, before focusing back on Hope. He had a plan, and Hope might offer some insights. Nick Fury wasn't someone he minded overhearing the conversation. The man knew many, many things, and Stephen gathered he was as silent as the grave on several fronts. Bonus was that they had all survived dealing with Stark, and that right there was basis enough for each of them to carry a "I survived a living clusterfuck" business card. High quality. With a gold foil border.

Stephen cleared his throat before continuing, choosing not to make further mention of that conversational faux pas.

"This quantum tunnel you were working on. Is it possible it could...transverse matter to enter another dimension? Because I am actively looking for a way out. And I'm able to draw enough magical energy from this place to create...."

He gestured with one hand to the reconstruction of the Sanctum, the cloak making the same motion with one corner raised up. True masters of the Mystic Arts were able to move their surroundings, to restructure, to shift, and to create shields and weapons. Taking what was in his head and turning it into a reality.

Hope didn't mind Nick being here for this conversation either. He was an okay guy, and promised to help Ava if she ever showed up - it was more than SHIELD had done for her in the past, but he hadn't been responsible for that. Besides, when it came to this orange cheeto-dusted universe, they all needed to get out.

"So you're thinking of creating a version of it to connect to the one we built back home?" Hope asked, just to make sure. "That...would work. It's really all about the particles - the faster a particle moves, the greater the probability it can tunnel through barriers. If you're able to use magic to do that, then good. Think of the quantum tunnel as a doorway."

How did you get in and out of places? Doors, of course. Or windows. Or just phased through like Ava but that was a whole other issue.

Stephen nodded in the affirmative. After he conducted his study he was sure this was a different dimension, a facet of a whole. Someplace they were not meant to be.

"If what we left behind was psychic residue from spontaneous dimensional transference, there's no reason we can't traverse through doorways back to other dimensions," he agreed. "I'm going to see about sending out a message. Otherwise, we need that tunnel. I conjured this house in under three hours. The roads and surrounding area in less than six. How long do you think it would take you to draw out plans and recreate a functional tunnel?"

Well, damn. Drawing out plans and recreating a quantum tunnel? Here? Hope obviously had no basis for comparison because she'd never gotten stuck in a place like this before - or dealt with crap like 'spontaneous dimensional transference' - but she'd do her best. Better than her best.

Because Scott was alone - there was no telling what happened to Paxton, Maggie, even Cassie. Hope hadn't seen any of them here (though she knew for a fact that her own parents had spontaneously became dust-bin contents too), but that didn't mean anything. He was alone and working himself to death, she knew he was, thus she would do the same so they could be reunited. They were partners in everything - equal work, equal busting of the ass.

"Well, considering we don't need to eat or sleep and are just kind of in stasis - " She glanced around, then looked back at her companions, doing some mental calculations. "I'd say six hours too. I want to get it exactly right." Roads and a building, that was one thing - but their exit strategy? No, she wouldn't mess this up.

It was being in stasis that was worrying him. And if this transference happened, it was imperative to get anyone out of there that could control a stone from their universe, to put up a united front against Thanos.

There was also no telling what was happening with the rest of the group on the other side. Much less how much time was passing...or hadn't passed. There was no telling what they would be going back to, either. They had Hope and Wanda on this side, and two people from SHIELD to think about any long-term evacuation plan. After the Quantum Tunnel was finished, Stephen had entire worlds to recreate before he finally left. If countless beings were going to be stuck here, the least he could do was make sure they were comfortable.

It would be a large price to pay, even if the rules were different in this dimension. He knew Mordo would say that price would come due anyway, if they were on speaking terms. Strange was still waiting for that bill to hit his metaphysical mailbox.

"I'll tell Wanda, if you can get started on this," Stephen said, looking around as though he was doing a headcount. There were countless other people and beings trapped here. He wasn't sure if, or how, they could save all of them. They could, at the very least and at the forefront, save the universe they came from.

"You give me a blueprint, we can recreate it to your specifications. Six hours. If Wanda can make a connection, and if she can somehow let Scott, Stark, or Dr. Foster know? We can start trying to get our people out. Then we find a way to fix this for everyone else. Get some tea when it's all over."

He could really use a cup of the green stuff. With honey.

"Blueprint, got it," Hope nodded. She'd never worked this hard in her life, she knew that already - but if there was any time to really dig her heels in and get 'er done, it would be now. There was so much riding on this. So many people counting on her - and the thought of leaving anyone behind, no, that couldn't happen. "I'll time it. Somehow. Time is weird here, but...six hours."

She was already doing some calculations in her head - now she just needed a space to hunker down and work. At least she wouldn't get distracted by hunger pangs or pesky things like hydrating. "Don't forget those mozzarella sticks, when it's all done," she smirked. "Because I mean, at this point? Fuck calories."

They deserved those calories, damnit. Every single one.

"I'm ordering a pile of those. I think the last thing we need to worry about is our fat and carb counts," Strange quipped, with a smirk of his own. They were in a time crunch, literally and figuratively, so he nodded over to a closed door. "There's a study over there and you can lock the door if you want. Everything you need will be in there."

He glanced at the clock, which barely seemed to move by two minutes, even though it felt like at least twenty went by.

"I'm not sure how long these universes overlapping into one dimension is going to last, or if it's meant to," he confided. "We're starting as soon as Wanda and I get back."

And he was coming back with Wanda. That was said without any doubt or question at all. He was about to mystically punch a hole from one dimension into another. He wasn't about to leave anyone behind - not even the innocent bystanders of their own universe caught up in this mess - if he could at all help it.

He nodded to Hope and then to Fury, excusing himself to discuss things with Wanda.
