Who: Darcy Lewis (Narrative)
When: Sunday 8/19
What: Going to the store for Jane
Ratings: Yellow (mention of dusting)
So far, setting up for Jane’s birthday was going smoothly. She had placed her two wrapped presents against the wall for Jane. It was great seeing Thor and Jane together again, it made Darcy happy. Mainly because a mopping Thor was no fun. So the fact that they were together again, meant all was right in the world. When Jane suggested someone go get some supplies, Darcy jumped to her feet. Thinking it was a good time to let them be alone before everyone else started to show up. Once outside, she had managed to send Loki a picture of herself, and have a short five-minute conversation with an illusion of himself, before he left with Val to hunt and she left to the store…. To hunt as well! The store was about ten maybe twenty minutes away. Already grabbing what she wanted with her iPod playing music. But she heard a faint sound, growing louder and louder. Finally snapping out of it as she plugged the headset out and heard it. People screaming all around her. Darcy didn’t even realize she wasn’t breathing anymore. As she watched people turn to ash and other screams. The sound outside of cars crashing into one another had her stumbling back. The new announcement wasted no time. National Guards… CDC… They didn’t know what this was, she did. The store clerk had run to the door and locked it, as instructed just as people ran to the doors, shaking and banging. Screaming to be let in. Her heart felt like it was going to jump out her chest as she stumbled and crashed onto the floor over someone's shopping basket. The person next to her screaming. ’I don’t...feel so...good…’ and like that they had dusted, parts of that dust landing on her face as those above her who did dust vanish. The store clerk had advised that she be placed in the storage room, along with a few others who were covered in ash, since the news stated they had no idea what it was. Darcy knew what it was. And as that door closed and she screamed to be let out, she fumbled for her phone…. |
