Backdated to 8/9/18 (after lunch with Jane)
Who: Thor and Darcy
When: Thursday (8/9)
What: Buying paint, sheets, and glitter!
Ratings: Green
Thor had never been in a Neiman Marcus before. He'd been to a few different department stores (Harrod's was a personal favorite) during his times on Midgard, but this was a new one. Maybe it was because it was filled with rude New Yorkers. One thing he'd learned about New York: the people took pride in being miserable. It was interesting, to say the least. "Why purple sheets, Darcy?" Thor was scanning the shelves, trying to find the perfect shade. He was not a decorator, by any means, but he could at least match colors. Purple did not seem to go well with the greens that his brother favored. Darcy loved New York. Despite the rude people that occupied the State. Once inside the store, Darcy was on a mission to get her purple sheets. It was pretty funny, seeing people stare at Thor and then look at Darcy. Who was literally half his size? But then again, almost anyone was taller than she was. Except for Jane, thank god. "Because I'm the purple cape crusader." She said laughing easily. "And it's one of my favorite colors." She added as she noticed a deep purple. Oh pretty! Thor wisely said nothing as he continued to look around. The intimacies in Loki and Darcy's relationship confounded him. They seemed as equally happy fighting as they were well...not fighting. Thor could not imagine Loki being thrilled by the decorating, but at the same time, if it brought Darcy joy, why would Loki argue it? Noticing a sheet tucked away, he pulled it out and examined it. It was soft, Egyptian cotton read the label, and it was a deep aubergine, with something akin to gold filaments in the sheets. It was truly a luxurious sheet. "What about this?" When Thor pulled out the sheet she squealed. "OH my, Odin it's perfect!!" She screamed happily as she pulled the entire set out. Her small frame bounced slightly with joy. Bright sapphire eyes looking to Thor. "Now...pink and glitter paint!" She said holding her finger up with such directness to show how serious she was about. "Not to mention pounds of glitter." She said snickering. Loki was the God of Mischief, let's see how he liked to have the tables turned on him by this little Midgardian. Hearing his father's name on Darcy's lips threw Thor for a loop. That was wholly unexpected. Reaching out for the set, Thor took it in his arms. It would not do to have Darcy carry the items when his arms were bare. It would be inappropriate. "Does paint come in glitter?" he wondered out loud. He'd never painted anything before. Even when he lived with Jane, there was no need to change the color of the walls. To be honest, he didn't even know if he could remember the color of the walls, they were of such low importance. "I still feel you should speak with my brother before enacting such drastic changes." When Thor took the sheets she smiled brightly at him. "Why would I do that? It defeats the whole purpose of it being a prank." Darcy said with a firm nod of her head. "Come on, you're brother is all about Mischief. So, why not have some fun tormenting him." She thought it was logical really, and who was going to argue with her? Once her mind was made up, good luck trying to change it. When he asked about glitter in the paint she thought for the moment. "No, hence why we need to buy pounds of glitter. The room is going to be covered in glitter...... As well as Loki" She said laughing even more. Oh, sure, he might kill her for this, but it'll be worth dying over. None of this made sense, but Thor convinced himself he was only peripherally involved. Loki would not dare to smite him for simply accompanying Darcy on her errands...right? "The news stated glitter is not biodegradable, and therefore should be used sparingly," he said, thinking he was being helpful. "Perhaps another item could be procured?" Darcy knew what Thor was trying to do, and it wasn't going to work. "Nope, it has to be glitter. Do you know how much of a bitch glitter is to get out of your hair?!" She said laughing. Knowing Loki, he'd magic it away...Hence why she needed more, to constantly put it in his hair for her own amusement. "Oh come on, what's Loki really going to do? Stab you? Big whoop not like it'd be a first." she held that smile on her features still. At this point, one had to ask... Who was worse, Darcy or Loki with their mischief ways? "I will forever be grateful that you are not my lady," Thor responded gently with a slightly teasing tone. "I am exhausted trying to keep up with you." Darcy almost said 'no instead you have me as a sister in law' but she remembered what Loki said, that binding was done in private and it was bet no one knew about since they weren't married yet. So, she pushed the joke aside and smiled. "Psh I'm an awesome girlfriend." She said laughing softly as she looked to Thor for the moment. "Just ya know... Don't tell anyone, okay?" She said with a smile still on her features. "Who would I tell?" Thor was actually confused by that question. He had many friends, true but confidantes? Hardly any. He kept his own counsel with the exception of Loki. "Of that, I will agree." He was in his rooms entirely too much. Not tidy by nature, he found himself cleaning almost obsessively, tackling dirt and dust like foes. Sometimes, he caught himself polishing cutlery, just to keep his hands busy. The weights helped, but he was entirely too into himself lately. "I would not have expected to buy paint though. This is different." Darcy laughed. Sure she'd spent time with some other friends. Peter, Jane, she even ran into Nick. But she couldn't help but notice her friend locked away in his room. "Ya know,.. if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." She did it with Jane, she could do it with Thor. Hell, she was even an ear for Loki when he needed to vent when his pride wasn't getting in the way. "Never a dull moment with me." She said laughing softly. "Besides, this is for fun and games anyways, come on, don't tell me a part of you isn't a little excited too be getting back at Loki for all the crap tricks he's done to you?" Thor shook his head. "No, not really. I have never considered doing so. A jest or a lark, here or there, but nothing substantiative. Trickery was always Loki's domain, while fighting was mine." He thought back to his fight with his brother the week before. Thor had managed to punch him and take control of the situation quickly like he always did. After everything Loki had done, he'd never felt the need to take revenge. That was simply Loki's nature, and how could one punish him for that? "Well, luckily you have me now." She replied with a smile on her face. "I know how to handle Loki. Easily." She added as she grabbed the three buckets of paint and moved towards the arts and craft section. Looking for the right shade of glitter to use. But she glanced at Thor for the moment. "You think he's going to be mad. And you're right he will be. But he'll laugh when he realizes the extent I went through to do this.. Trust me." She said assuring him everything will be fine in the end. Thor could only shrug and go along with the tornado that was Darcy. Maybe this was what his brother did too, Thor didn't know. All he knew was that he was taking no responsibility for this. He was just a pair of strong arms, willing to hold everything Darcy bought. "You appear as if you have done this before," he commented. Darcy smiled. "Before meeting Jane, I used to be the queen of prank wars back home." She said with a firm nod of her head. "None of my friends could outdo my pranks and they were all so terrified when prank wars came around. We dedicated one whole month to it and I always won." She replied as she looked at Thor. "But that was a long time ago so, this is me killing y boredom because if I have to look at another vide Im going to pull my hair out." "Do you not have any hobbies?" Thor remembered from his time before on Midgard that hobbies were important to people. Their lives were short, so they wanted to get some satisfaction, a feeling that they'd perfected something. If he was honest, he probably had a few hobbies but warfare, drinking, and ruling were hardly indulgent. Well. Maybe the drinking. What he wouldn't give for a decent Asgardian draught of mead. "I like to bake..." she said sheepishly as she soon revealed that bright smile. Maybe shed bake Loki a cake as a welcome home gift. "What about you big guy?" Thor had never understood the intricacies of baking. It was a science, and that was Jane's domain more than his. His few attempts had always led to burnt products, inedible for human consumption. Better for all that he stay away from that. "I have no Midgardian hobbies unless you count the Internet." He had to admit, it was fun to play around on Instagram, look at other peoples' pictures. Gifs fascinated him, especially those for food. He had no interest in recreating the recipes, but it was neat to watch. Besides -- it kept his mind off of other things. "Does training count? I enjoy sparring." "Training total counts. Hey!" She said hitting his chest. "You should teach me how to fight." She said with a bright smile over her features. Darcy had her taser sure bit learning to defend herself was a must. Especially now. "I would demolish you," Thor said gravelly. He had no experience in training mortals, especially such little ones like Darcy. "You would be in grave pain, and Loki would never forgive me." Darcy made a face. "Well Someone needs to teach me how to fight. Maybe I'll see if SHIELD has some type of training I can join." She thought for a moment Nd nodded to herself. That would be even worse, Thor thought. With a heavy sigh, he asked, "What type of training are you seeking? You would be better suited to a range type of attack. I would not have you in the heart of battle." She thought for a moment. "Maybe something with a spear? Long range attacks... or would up close be better because of my small size?" He'll if Darcy knew really. He shook his head. "No. Long range. I agree only with that type of training. You do not have the arm strength for a spear; however, we can work on this." What was he getting himself into? Maybe if he distracted her. "Do you have all your items? I would greatly appreciate sustenance. I believe it is almost time for lunch." "Yeah let's go." She said smiling as they moved to the checkout. |
