Who: Darcy and Jane
When: After this
What: Getting lunch and catching up
Ratings: Green

Darcy had taken the week off to work from home… Which wasn’t a bad thing but she found herself spending her mornings and afternoons occupied with friends. Early in the week, she’d met up with Peter for Slurpees, then she ran into Fury. Now, Dary was heading into the lab to meet up with Jane to grab some lunch and play catch up. The two really didn’t get to spend much time together anymore. Sure, she’d go into the labs to make sure the science team (Jane and Tony) had eaten and napped. Because no one likes a grumpy scientist. Aside from that, both their jobs kept them busy, along with their private lives.

Still, Darce made it her priority to catch up with Jane and see how everything was with her. Truthfully. The time away from Loki helped, and sure she missed him but she had a life outside of him, and this reminded her of just that. Which was good.

So as the doors to the lab opened, Darcy steps through. “Has anyone seen an astrophysicist about this big, brown hair and lacking sleep and her best friend?” Of course, Darce knew only Jane would be in the lab, but still. It was fun to mess with her.

“I’m taller than that,” Jane complained, looking up at Darcy from behind her safety goggles, eyes magnified to outrageous proportions. The workbench was acting more like an electronic surgery center, the casing of her spectrometer cracked open and its insides spread out over the bench in front of her.

“One sec.” Jane typed a few commands into her laptop, which was somehow connected to the whole mess.

With the rolling chair grabbed, Darce rolled across the lab towards Jane and her operating table. Only to look at what she was doing. “So… What are we working on today?” She asked as she spun around in the chair for the moment. Her thick brown hair hidden under her green knitted cap. But blue eyes came to watch her friend.

“And we’re eating here. I ordered us Chinese, the one you like around the corner.” Darcy might not be her intern anymore, but she knew what Jane liked. And right now she seemed to be in the zone.

“Thanks.” Jane pushed her goggles onto her head and waved at the mess of wires and circuit boards. “Glitches and reprogramming. Something is drawing too much power and it’s causing a short somewhere. Plus I need it to talk to Tony’s satellites, make sure it’s reading that data across the appropriate spectrums.”

“What do you think it is?” Darcy asked she wondered if Jane knew about Darcy reaching out to Tony about Loki’s dreams. But she wouldn't ask since everyone lately had been having dreams of some sort or another. Darcy came to stop her chair next to Jane as she glanced at the circuits and soon to Jane. “...How you been sleeping?” She couldn’t help it, she had to ask.

“I think it’s in the interferometry digital output. It keeps having problems when I’m trying to reconcile data across two sources.” Jane pointed at the mess and glared her frustration at the equipment for having the nerve of breaking down.

“And I’m fine.” If her voice was short, it was more to do with the equipment than anything. “No dreams since Thor’s party.”

Darcy nodded her head for the moment. Only to look at the equipment as she laughed softly. “Well, that’s good.” She said with a bright smile. “So come on, what else has been going on? I feel like I haven’t seen you in years.” She said as she came to take her phone out. Ordering Chinese for them. Just like old times, which made Darcy smile.

“Honestly, there isn’t much. Just the dreams, which you already know about. Thor got me copies of the schematics to Peter Quill’s ship and FTL drive, did I tell you that?”

“No, you didn’t tell me.” She said looking at Jane after the food was ordered. “I think Peter told me something about his ship being repaired.” She thought for a minute. “So.. You and Thor, how’s that going?” Asking with a bright smile on her features. “Food will be here in thirty minutes.” She added while fixing her glasses for the moment.

“It’s fine. We’re friends.” It wasn’t the first time Jane had used the answer and it probably wouldn’t be the last. Jane had no others. Sometimes things with Thor were so easy and sometimes she was so aware of how things had changed. “Anyway, what’s going on with you? I barely know what you’re doing.”

Those two were idiots. It’s what Darcy and Loki constantly said when they came into their conversations. But she smiled. When asked how things have been Darcy smiled even more. “Good, Lady Frigga let me borrow some books to read up on Asgard law. I also have an all speak spell so I can literally talk all languages from all 9..err 8 realms now.” She said smiling brightly.

“As well as learning how to read and write Asgardian. Helps me in protecting Thor and Frigga and Loki if anything should happen.”

“You know Allspeak?” Jane’s eyebrows rose and her mouth dropped open in surprise. “Darcy, that’s amazing.”

Darcy smiled brightly. “Loki cast it on me, so far the spell has stuck, which is awesome!” She stated smiling. “Du er min beste venn Jane, og jeg elsker deg.” She said in Asgard as she smiled at her and laughed. “I said you’re my best friend and I love you.”

Jane had heard snippets of the language from Thor so it wasn’t entirely unfamiliar. The elsker bit she recognized at least. “I think you just became the world’s most in-demand diplomat with that,” she smiled. “Hey, any chance of getting them legally declared people? You remember how impossible it was trying to open a bank account for Thor when he lived here because he didn’t have ID?” Jane eventually had to open the account in her own name but withdraw drawn access granted to both of them. It had been a little surreal to see the debit card printed with “THOR ODINSON.”

“Yeah still working on that. They’re quick to declare war criminal but not citizens,” she replied shaking her head as she thought for a moment. “I think the only way they'll be declared citizens of by marriage,” she said nudging Jane playfully. Which was more to see her reaction?

Jane elbowed back and glared. “Then I expect I’ll be wearing a green bridesmaid's dress eventually.” It was only a shot back at Darcy’s implication. The both of them would be old and grey and gone while Thor and Loki had centuries of life stretching ahead of them.

That topic was a sore one for Darcy. And it showed on her face. “Yeah… but it's frowned upon to marry a war criminal who tried to overrule Midgard...err Earth”

Clearly, she'd had this talk with Loki and she'd been around the Norse God so much she was talking like them a little. With phrases.

“Not stopping you from being with him,” Jane shrugged. Talk like that was a bit on both sides of the fence. Eventually, Darcy would have to make a choice. Maybe not today or even soon, but eventually.

She came to look around a moment. And soon to Jane. “I'm not entirely convinced he was aware of what he was doing… I was looking at the videos from SHIELD and well… Loki has green eyes and the video his eyes were blue.” it was something Darcy was working on privately.

“Don't say anything to anyone please.”

“What?” Jane took a moment to pull her safety goggles off her head. “Are you sure? Thor’s never said… I confronted him about it when I was on Asgard. He never denied it.”

“I did too. But he's convinced he did it. He's never asked Loki about the fall… or the void he was in or anything.” It was obvious something Darcy felt strongly about the subject.

“I've been looking over everything this week on the incident and something Clint said to Loki at the party. I wanna look more into this.” She looked at Jane again. “No one knows I'm doing this.”

“Okay…” Jane agreed. “But you should really talk to Thor about this. He would probably know more about the magic involved than anyone.”

“Yeah, when I bring it out he dismisses it. Just like Tony dismissed when I told him about Loki’s dreams,” she said looking at Jane. “I get Loki is the villain I'm not stupid. But you know me… I need to know everything.”

It wasn't long before the food had arrived. After paying she came back with it. “Okay, no more science. Time to eat,” she said smiling.
