Stephen could tell this was not going to be good. At all. The last time he could sense a disturbance coming, was when he was standing outside the former Avengers Tower by Natasha Romanoff's side. Before the tornadoes. When he couldn't help but look up, knowing but not knowing, that ominous things were brewing overhead. So close, he could almost see it.
This was darker and more omnipresent, enough that Odinson was profoundly experiencing it as well. There was no telling if anyone else could, if they were esoterically inclined. Like Wanda. Or even Loki. While Wanda was firmly on the side of good - and Stephen would staunchly defend her if anyone said otherwise to him - then Loki was still a wild card. Everything that happened thus far, was the result of some step that Loki had taken before.
That much Stephen knew of the past, after making it a point before this current mess started, using a potent combination of seeing spells and the Eye. But the future? That was a variable he couldn't seek out anymore by manipulating time. Not without collapsing an entire universe.
He blew out a harsh exhale and locked his gaze with Thor's, ready to offer his assessment.
"First step. I was able to locate Odin using a strand of your hair. For that spell to work, I'd need a strand of his or some part of someone he is biologically related to. Second. I talked with your father only briefly, but I could sense the power in him. There's a trace of that in you now. I'm going to make an educated guess that there's likely some measure of insight passed down. I don't think it would ever be to the extent of what Odin possessed. I'm not even sure if it's a school of magic that can be taught, or better learned as you age. It's also just not your, uhhh...." He paused, thinking of the right word that wouldn't come across as insulting. "...forte."
Stephen made a little punchy motion with one fist and coughed a little, to indicate that Thor was more of a physical brawler than a magic wielder. Besides a particular manipulation of weather, of course.
"Third. Something is coming. Since we don't know what, that's a problem if we cry wolf too often. That's why I'll offer my aid to you and tell you, trust your gut instincts with this. If you think it is connected to your brother? It is. And if Odin was the secret keeper that the tales told? Maybe you shouldn't be."
