It'd been over a week since Lincoln had arrived in New York. It had involved some pretty big adjustments to his thinking, not least being that he wasn't dead. He suspected it would take Daisy a little more time to get used to that than him, though. Especially after all she'd been through during the aftermath. Just thinking about it now made Lincoln's heart hurt, but he knew he'd done the right thing. That made it an easier burden to bear.
Yeah, it'd been a long week. One of the bigger changes was that he'd gotten himself a job. With SHIELD scattered to the four winds he hadn't liked the idea of sitting brooding with only his thoughts for company. Lincoln knew from experience where that could lead and he didn't need a trip down memory lane. So he'd applied for a job at the local hospital, figuring he'd go back to work and get back into the swing of his pre-SHIELD life. There were always going to be Inhumans that needed guidance and maybe in this life he could convince Daisy to join him in his struggle rather than get drawn back towards SHIELD.
He'd started the new job the previous day and with orientation and learning his way around the hospital, Lincoln hadn't had time to check in with Daisy. As he finished up his rounds he checked his watch and sent off a quick text, inviting her to meet him for lunch. It felt good to be back helping people in an immediate way. Seeing an injury, suturing it and prescribing antibiotics to ward off future problems. It was uncomplicated and that was calming for the soul; something Lincoln badly needed. His phone beeped and the reply made him smile. Lunch with Daisy was on and that made the day a beautiful thing already.
Lincoln made his way to his locker, hung up his white coat and stethoscope before heading towards the parking lot where Daisy had said she was waiting. He headed over and greeted her with a soft kiss, "are you a sight for sore eyes!" he told her as he slipped his arm around her waist and started walking towards the park. "C'mon, I'm told the guy at the van does a mean chili-dog that's the talk of the hospital and I could eat ten about now," he told her happily. "So, I've been up to my eyes in people-parts, how has your day been?" he asked with a grin.
