"No one knows what I'm doing," Tony murmured and it was loud enough for Sam to hear. "If I was on the periodic table of elements, I'd be the element of surprise. I'm not ruining anything."

Much louder this time, he rapidly told Sam, "We're not ruining anything. This is a nice party. I used to party all the time, right Pepper?"

Tony shut himself up by taking a long sip of champagne, his eyes looking around at the room's other occupants. When he saw Ellen, he waved a hand in her directly to say hello. Mental note, of course, was 'Oh hey, there's the chick I fried, and that's...wow, it's fried chick, which is friggin' close to Kentucky Fried Chicken. When's the last time I had that? All I remember is that it was all gross.'

Tony's mind would drive a telepath insane in under two minutes. And since Pepper is tying the knot with him, that means she qualifies for sainthood.
