Who: Daisy Johnson, Tony Stark
What: meeting at Stark Industries
When: after this network convo.
Rating: Green

Did Tony ever leave his lab anymore? It was getting doubtful. He hadn't spent a total of 48 hours in the Fifth Avenue penthouse in the past month. Sure, he went out to dinner and lunch on occasion, but he rolled right back into the lab to start reviewing his latest plans and outlines. The suit was about 99% done, with the remaining 1% reserved for test drives.

He already scheduled several of those, and was busy looking up some revised weapon specs he'd pilfered from Hammer and had saved from SHIELD before it went down. Since it was reviewing old info, the files weren't on the network server, where a mutated version of Friday was pulling the same trick that JARVIS used on Ultron: running enough real time interference to keep an AI from getting launch codes.

Tony was so engrossed that he forgot all about job offers he'd given out or who he had given them out to. Instead he was twisting and turning a holograph of an old Hammer design around with one hand, occasionally enlarging it, as though he was trying to find a way to make a better, smarter mousetrap.

Only, by the looks of it, with much more boom.

It was still strange not being apart of SHIELD and not having Coulson around. But Daisy would have to make due with what this world was willing to give her and that seemed to be a job with Stark. She'd take it. For now. Since she couldn't just sit around and do nothing.

Daisy must have been standing by the door for five minutes as she watched Stark totally lost in what he was doing. She wondered how long she could stand there before he realized that he wasn't alone.

Another minute or two past before she finally cleared her throat and took a step forward. "I could have killed you like five minutes ago." Not that she would do such a thing, but it just proved he wasn't paying attention to what was going on around him.

Tony pointed upward while staring straight forward at the holograph, although there was a smile on his face.

"Nuh uh! Safe space," Tony said with mock cheeriness, collapsing the design by clapping his hands together. He finally focused on Daisy. "Friday would've let me know if someone was gunning for me."

"I would, because you're oblivious while you work," Friday's voice said, Irish but with a necessary note of dry sarcasm to it.

"Whatever. So what if I only peek out of my hidey hole for things like Hulk rampages and Hammeroid attacks." Tony folded both arms over his chest, leaning back against a cabinet. "Not dead yet, but you can join the list of everyone who wants to kill me. You might be a lil' bit down on the wait list. You want anything? Coffee?"

He waved her in further, like it was okay to come in and hang out. He was trying to schedule breaks in. And failing miserably by working through three-fourths of them.

Daisy looked up and then back at Tony. Before she could say anything that's when Friday's voice entered the conversation. "Because that's not weird at all..." She knew her way around a computer, but having one speak freely was just strange.

"You should probably peek out a lot more often. You never know what else might be happening." It was a suggestion. Nothing more. "Not today," she said with a small smile. She was going to add that she'd rather stay on the Tony Stark fan club list, but she didn't want to make herself seem too weird. Especially when they just met.

She stepped further in and shook her head at Tony's question. "I'm good, thanks. Soooo..." as she walked, she took everything in, "this is where you hide most of the time, huh?"

"Outside's where stuff blows up. This is Candyland." Tony gestured around at the lab with both arms held out wide. "I do log a lotta hours, I guess. Work hard, play hard. I'll fly to Dubai tomorrow. Test flight, and I'm tweaking a new HUD display."

He tilted his head and looked at her, with a sudden squint. It was like he was sizing up the person in front of him compared to what he looked up.

"Sooooo...SHIELD agent. You don't seem super shifty," he offered, and not unkindly even if he was naturally wary of agents of the secret variety. "I mean, obviously, seismic shifty isn't out of the question with you. And that's cool. Super useful. But I read you're like a bad ass with computers. I get a kick out of coding. Tell me, what've you done? Get boastful. Hack the Pentagon? God, that's still fun to do at lunch...."

He did that earlier over some quinoa bibimbap, followed by poking around in the CIA the day before. It's what happens when Tony Stark gets bored.

"Well, yeah, that does happen." Among other things. Then again she was thinking of home before this whole split universe thing happened. "Must be nice to be able to take off to Dubai or wherever on a whim."

When she noticed Stark staring at her, she watched him. He was totally sizing her up.

"Because I'm not and we weren't. I mean, after the whole reboot of SHIELD." She could understand why Tony said that. Daisy thought SHIELD was shifty and liars at first, too. Oh how times have changed. "You found out all of that already?" She was a little surprised since she hadn't been around all that long yet. "I hacked into SHIELD when nobody else could." She was still pretty proud about that.

"So, is that all you do now? Hack the Pentagon and stay hidden in your little Candyland?"

Assessment reached and looking visibly impressed that she hacked SHIELD like he had on the helicarrier, Tony stopped squinting and visibly relaxed. Not too much, since he was always on guard, but just enough to make it seem like he wasn't expecting a pack of teenage mutant ninja turtles to attack in the next five minutes.

"Nah, I'll fly right back and make adjustments. It's not a pleasure cruise," Tony admitted with a shrug. "I'm here because there's work to do. My job just happens to be at Candyland. It's not the shit like Shuri's lab is. Working on a revamp, too. I show up for a publicity op. I go home when Pep yells at me to go home or eat or whatever. Otherwise? I'm right here. Staying informed, and getting ready for the big one. Obvious earthquake joke is obvious."

Tony was also working on a revamp of SHIELD, which he neglected to mention. He imagined Daisy would find out soon enough. After he was done talking to Fury.

"Speaking of staying informed?" Tony waved a hand toward a computer terminal. "Let's stir the pot, without the feds knowing we're stirring it. I need to look up some dirt on some government contracts. See who signed off on them. You in?"
