Who: Bruce Banner [Narrative]
What: Nobody does guilt like Bruce Banner
When: Sometime after this
Rating/Warnings: Green
It had been enough of a prolonged period for Bruce to have spent as the Hulk that confirmed to the scientist (who worked with facts, figures and data) that his concerns had not been completely unfounded. Of course being the Hulk was simpler as he didn't think if consequences whereas Bruce was very much fixated on the devastation left in the Hulk's wake. It was everything he'd been dreading and more. This wasn't Sakaar, it wasn't cute or okay. How many injured? How many dead? Bruce felt a distinct twist of guilt when he watched and rewatched the news that had covered the incident, each time sinking further and that much deeper into a self loathing pit of despair. He was sore, aching, and he felt strangely weak but that was nothing in comparison that he'd done as the Hulk. He tensed as the news anchors referred to the Hulk as a monster and he felt his brow draw together when they spoke of how "convenient" it was that the Hulk had been moved quickly enough as to not stand trial for his crimes. Not that they realised it but it would have been pointless, the Hulk wouldn't understand. Not like Bruce would and did. And it was Bruce that was feeling every single raw emotion that you could imagine, thumb being worried by his teeth as his eyes moved from one report to the next. Apparently somebody had taken aim and fired some sort of missile at him which had meant the Hulk had come out. It was protective, almost, but at the same time the rage was not something Bruce was willing to accept in exchange for his safety. Bruce had very much hidden away from the world much like he he had done before, seeking comfort in shadow and isolation in solitude. Eventually however he'd slammed shut the laptop he'd been watching the news on and turned away, burying his hands in his hair and gripping his skull like a drowning man would to a life preserver. He needed to breathe and try to think his way out of this but right now all attempts to do both of those things were failing. Epically. It honestly felt like for all the strides he'd made on Sakaar had just been knocked back and he was right back at square one. |
